Cognizant TriZetto has initiated a lawsuit against the Indian IT giant Infosys in a Texas federal court, alleging that Infosys unlawfully acquired and used trade secrets related to its healthcare insurance software. However, the latter has denied all the allegations the healthcare operations and technology firm made.
โInfosys is aware of the lawsuit. We deny all allegations and will defend our position in the court,โ said an Infosys spokesperson.
In the lawsuit, Cognizant claims that its software portfolio including TriZetto's Facets and QNXT, which healthcare insurance companies use to automate administrative processes; Infosys improperly misused TriZetto software and repackaged its data to create its own software "Test Cases for Facets."
Additionally, Cognizant stated that the Indian company has broken the law and developed software that extracts data from their software QNXT which contains confidential trade secrets and TriZetto information. The two rivals in the market have locked horns as both companies are reaching a revenue of $20 billion.
Notably, Cognizant's CEO (Chief Executive Officer) Ravi Kumar S is a former Infosys employee, having served as president and deputy COO (Chief Operating Officer) for more than nine years, till October 2022. Also, on August 21, the California-based company onboarded Rajesh Varrier to succeed Rajesh Nambiar, former Chairman and MD of Cognizant India. He will take on the charge from October 1, 2024.
Varrier previously held various roles at Infosys before joining Cognizant including the head of Infosys Americas and Global Services, and the global head of Digital and Microsoft businesses of Infosys. As per Money Control, as part of the cut-throat rivalry, last year, Cognizant complained poaching of their key officers.
