OpenAI has announced the appointment of Arvind KC as its new Chief People Officer, marking a significant step in strengthening the company’s people strategy as it scales globally.
KC brings a rare blend of engineering expertise and people leadership to the role. Over the course of his career, he has held senior leadership positions at Roblox, Google, Palantir Technologies, and Meta, where he played a key role in building high-performing technical teams and scaling organizational systems to support rapid growth. His experience spans both product development and the people frameworks that enable innovation at scale.
At OpenAI, KC will oversee the company’s global people operations, including hiring, onboarding, talent development, and the design of systems and policies that promote collaboration, agility, and sustained high performance. His mandate is to ensure that OpenAI’s growth is supported by strong, practical people processes that empower teams without slowing them down.
Commenting on the appointment, Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications at OpenAI, said, “We believe the way we scale OpenAI should reflect the future we’re helping to create. KC will play a key role in ensuring our people processes, policies, and systems match our ambition, while preserving the culture and operating principles that have helped us get here.”
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape how work is done, the Chief People Officer will play a central role in guiding OpenAI through this transition responsibly. The company emphasized its commitment to modeling how organizations can adapt to AI-enabled work environments by expanding human potential through AI while investing in continuous learning and growth. This includes redefining evolving roles, developing new skills, and advancing education and reskilling efforts to keep pace with technological change.
Arvind KC expressed his enthusiasm about joining at this pivotal moment, “This is a moment where every organization is being asked to rethink how work happens, what teams need, how people grow, and how to adapt as the tools change. I'm excited to join OpenAI as we work through those questions ourselves, and alongside our ecosystem of users, customers, and partners building the future with us.”
OpenAI also indicated that it plans to share its learnings over time with customers and partners, contributing to broader industry conversations about how AI can be integrated into everyday work in a way that is practical, responsible, and growth-oriented.
