AMD has taken a significant step in strengthening India’s technology ecosystem with the inauguration of Maharashtra’s first AMD Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Pune. The initiative, launched in partnership with 3C IT Solutions & Telecoms (3CITS), underscores AMD’s commitment to advancing high-performance computing (HPC), AI-enabled platforms, and semiconductor expertise in India.
The launch ceremony, held on 10th October 2025, was graced by Mr. Pankaj Dessai, Director – Channels & SMB, AMD, Mr. Ashish Sawant, National Sales Manager – Volume & Distribution Business, AMD, and Mr. Ranjit Mayengbam, MD & Chairman, 3C IT Solutions & Telecoms along with dignitaries and industry leaders from across the country.
Empowering Innovation and Skill Development
The AMD Centre of Excellence is designed as a hub for applied research, hands-on learning, and skill development. By providing access to AMD’s advanced computing infrastructure, next-generation processors, and AI platforms, the Centre aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world technology applications. Students, educators, and researchers will gain the opportunity to work with cutting-edge solutions, fostering innovation across sectors including AI, data science, gaming, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure.
Driving Industry-Academia Collaboration
The CoE will also serve as a platform for collaboration between academia and industry. It will host training programs, workshops, and mentorship initiatives, equipping the next generation of engineers and technologists with the skills needed to thrive in India’s rapidly evolving digital landscape. The Centre is expected to accelerate research and development, providing a fertile ground for innovative solutions that can be deployed across enterprise, government, and commercial sectors.
From AMD’s perspective, the Pune CoE is a strategic step toward nurturing India’s next-generation technologists. Mr. Pankaj Dessai, Director – Channels & SMB, AMD, remarked, "Our commitment through this CoE goes beyond providing access to advanced computing and AI platforms, it is about creating an ecosystem that empowers India’s innovators to think bigger, experiment faster, and achieve globally competitive outcomes. By integrating AMD’s technology with local talent, we aim to cultivate skills, inspire research, and foster solutions that address both national and international technological challenges.”
He further added, “This initiative embodies our belief that when global expertise meets local ambition, the possibilities for innovation are limitless. The Pune CoE will not only accelerate high-performance computing adoption but also nurture a generation of engineers, developers, and researchers who will define India’s position on the global technology map."
A Visionary Behind the Partnership
The Pune CoE is made possible by the vision and leadership of Mr. Ranjit Mayengbam, the Managing Director and Chairman of 3C IT Solutions & Telecoms (India) Limited (3CITS). Born into a farming family in Manipur, Ranjit’s journey from a government school in the North-East to leading a publicly listed IT and telecom company is a testament to perseverance, education, and entrepreneurial vision.
Under his leadership, 3CITS has grown into a trusted provider of innovative IT solutions, digital transformation services, and next-generation digital infrastructure. By forging a strategic partnership with AMD, Ranjit has positioned 3CITS as a hub for high-performance computing and AI-driven innovation, opening doors for students, researchers, and startups in India to access world-class technology.
Reflecting on this vision, Ranjit Mayengbam, MD & Chairman of 3C IT Solutions & Telecoms (3CITS), shared his thoughts, "The AMD CoE is not just an investment in technology, it is an investment in people, potential, and the future of India’s innovation ecosystem. Coming from a humble background in Manipur, I have personally experienced how access to guidance, tools, and opportunities can transform lives. By bringing AMD’s global expertise to Pune, we are creating a platform where students, researchers, and startups can experiment, innovate, and solve real-world challenges. This Centre will serve as a bridge between theoretical learning and industry application, fostering a culture where talent is nurtured, creativity is encouraged, and ideas have the freedom to evolve into tangible solutions that can shape India’s digital future."
AMD’s Strategic Investment in India
This Pune CoE represents a broader AMD strategy to deepen its footprint in India, aligning with the country’s push for digital self-reliance and advanced technology adoption. By investing in local skill development and fostering innovation hubs, AMD is not only nurturing talent but also enabling Indian enterprises to access world-class computing solutions, supporting sectors such as AI, HPC, gaming, and cloud services.
Catalyzing India’s Technological Leadership
With the AMD Centre of Excellence, India gains a critical platform to accelerate its capabilities in high-performance computing, AI-driven applications, and digital infrastructure development. By integrating advanced AMD technology with local talent, the initiative is poised to contribute to India’s vision of becoming a global technology hub, while simultaneously nurturing the next generation of innovators and researchers.
Through this CoE, AMD reinforces its role as a catalyst for technological growth, ensuring that India’s students, researchers, and enterprises are equipped to lead in a future defined by AI, HPC, and next-generation computing solutions.
