Acer India has achieved a defining milestone in its growth journey by securing the second position in India’s highly competitive personal computing market, as per the IDC India Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker Q1 2026 preliminary report.

The company recorded a 21.30% market share, marking a strong performance in a market that continues to evolve from cyclical demand patterns to a more stable, structurally growth-driven phase. The momentum is being shaped by sustained demand from education, enterprise refresh cycles, hybrid work environments, and increasing adoption of performance-led computing across gaming and creator segments.

Shift toward future-ready computing categories

India’s PC market is entering a more mature and opportunity-rich phase, where growth is increasingly driven by category expansion rather than replacement cycles alone. Demand is accelerating in gaming, creator ecosystems, and AI-ready computing devices, alongside steady institutional and commercial refresh cycles.

Acer’s share gains reflect its ability to align with this transition through a diversified portfolio strategy and rapid responsiveness to evolving consumer and enterprise requirements. The company’s focus is now shifting toward deeper penetration of AI-enabled PCs, performance computing, and value-led innovation across price segments.

Balanced portfolio across consumer, gaming, and enterprise segments

Acer’s performance has been supported by a diversified product portfolio spanning consumer, gaming, and commercial categories.

In the consumer segment, Acer continues to focus on entry-level and mainstream laptops designed for students, first-time buyers, and home users. The emphasis remains on portability, battery efficiency, and cost-optimized performance suited for everyday computing requirements.

In gaming, Acer’s Predator and Nitro series remain key contributors to brand visibility and demand generation. These products cater to India’s expanding gaming base, with configurations that include high-refresh-rate displays, dedicated GPUs, and thermally optimised chassis designs targeted at sustained performance use cases.

On the enterprise side, Acer has expanded its commercial PC offerings to address hybrid work and SMB requirements. The focus remains on reliability, manageability, and security features, alongside configurations designed for cloud-based workflows and remote collaboration environments.

Commenting on the achievement, Sanjeev Mehtani, Chief Sales Officer, Acer India highlighted the collective effort behind the milestone and the execution strength of the organization in a LinkedIn post. He said, "“Proud Moment for Acer India: We are officially number 2. The latest IDC ratings are out, and I am thrilled to share that Acer India has secured the Number 2 position in the market. This incredible milestone is a direct result of the relentless drive, passion and resilience of our phenomenal Sales Team. From closing critical deals to expanding our footprint and building deep rooted trust with our partners and customers, your hard work has truly paid off."

He further stated, "An achievement like this does not happen overnight. It takes grit, late nights, strategic execution and an unwavering commitment to excellence. To our sales champions on the field and everyone supporting them at Acer and all business partners who contributed from behind the scenes, thank you for raising the bar and making this victory possible. Let us keep this incredible momentum going and continue to push boundaries.”

Manufacturing localisation

Acer’s India strategy is increasingly anchored in localisation and manufacturing expansion. The company’s Puducherry manufacturing facility represents a key milestone in its Make in India journey, enabling faster response to market demand, improved supply agility, and better alignment with India-specific requirements.

Retail expansion and omnichannel ecosystem accelerating reach

A major driver of Acer’s growth in India has been its expanding retail and channel ecosystem. The company has significantly strengthened its presence across metro, tier 2, and tier 3 markets, improving accessibility, visibility, and consumer engagement.

Offline retail continues to play a critical role in influencing purchase decisions, especially in laptops and gaming devices where hands-on experience and service confidence remain key factors. Acer’s retail strategy is tightly integrated with its online and channel ecosystem, enabling a seamless omnichannel approach across India.

The company is now approaching the milestone of 300 exclusive brand stores, further strengthening its direct retail footprint and reinforcing long-term brand engagement across high-growth markets.

Market consolidation intensifies competition at the top

The IDC Q1 2026 data reflects increasing consolidation in India’s PC market, with leading brands accounting for the majority of shipments. The narrowing gap between the top two players highlights intensifying competition in both consumer and commercial segments, where pricing, availability, and channel strength remain key differentiators.

The shift also reflects a structurally evolving demand base in India, where PC adoption continues to be supported by education-led usage, hybrid work adoption, and rising demand for performance-oriented devices in gaming and content creation.

Service infrastructure driving execution strength

Acer’s growth has been reinforced by a strong partner-led distribution model that ensures last-mile reach, faster inventory movement, and deeper market penetration across geographies.

At the same time, the company has significantly invested in its after-sales service infrastructure, expanding service coverage, improving turnaround times, and enhancing consistency of customer support across regions. Regular training programs and process upgrades across channel partners ensure readiness for newer technologies, including AI-enabled devices.
