Shipway announced the launch of its self-learning AI-powered courier allocation engine ShipSense.

ShipSense is trained to automatically assign the most-suited delivery partner for each order based on a comprehensive evaluation of various courier partners on parameters like cost, estimated delivery time, success rates, and past performance - selecting the one that offers the best combination of speed, reliability, and efficiency for that particular order.

ShipSense continuously learns and is trained regularly based on the latest shipment data. This allows it to stay updated with changing logistics trends, seasonal demands, and shifting customer behavior.

One of ShipSense’s standout features is its customer-focused logic. The system segments customers based on factors like order frequency, payment behavior, return rates, and average order value. Based on this information, ShipSense is trained to offer a  premium delivery experience to top-tier buyers   - without the need for human intervention.

ShipSense allows businesses to customize and set auto-assignment rules as per their specific requirements. With a plug-and-play interface, ShipSense does courier assignments automatically, matching the business’ requirements with real-time operating data to make optimised decisions.

ShipSense’s automated courier allocation also factors in payment mode (Prepaid/Cash-on-Delivery), place of pick-up and delivery, value of the order, promised delivery time, latest transit times and multiple other parameters for intelligent courier auto-assignment with the aim to improve delivery rates, reduce operational inefficiencies while improving customer satisfaction across the board.

The launch of ShipSense ahead of the upcoming festive season is expected to boost the ability to offer faster, more cost-effective, and reliable shipping options to D2C brands and sellers as they prepare for the multiple online sales planned between August - December 2025.

A recent report by Shipway highlighted how mode of payment, delivery speed, distance and geographical complexity and city-specific consumer behaviour significantly impact the percentage of orders that are delivered to the buyers - challenges ShipSense is built to address.

A recent study highlights that the Indian logistics automation market size was valued at USD 1,877.0 mn in 2024 and is estimated to reach USD 8,068.7 mn by 2033, exhibiting a CAGR of 15.7% during 2025-2033. The launch of ShipSense underscores Shipway’s commitment towards building robust logistics using cutting-edge technology for efficient logistics support to e-commerce brands and sellers.

“With intelligent automation and customer-centric logic, ShipSense ensures that every shipment is optimized for the best delivery outcome,” said Saurabh Kumar Choudhary, Chief Business Officer at Shipway. “This is a major step toward simplifying e-commerce logistics at scale, and we’re excited to roll it out just in time for the festive rush.”

Built for versatility, ShipSense is equipped to meet the logistics needs of diverse industries - from fashion retailers and consumer tech brands to healthcare and wellness startups - ensuring smarter courier decisions with every order.
