Stones2Milestones (S2M) is an EdTech organization that is on a mission to 'Create a Nation of

Readers'. For the past decade they have been working to establish reading level benchmarks for ESL (English-as-a-second language) countries in order to enable children to read in English.

The organisation aims to help close the global literacy gap by 2030 and will touch 1 million children this year across 50+ cities in India.

Short Summary

Stones2Milestones (S2M) works across the educational ecosystem, with schools and parents to offer leading ESL solutions including teacher training, proficiency assessment, parent engagement and more.

To ensure that S2M’s team can handle such intricate stakeholder collaboration, they needed a tool that was simple yet powerful and able to scale with the needs of a fast growing EdTech company.

The Challenge

Since English is a major international language, the ability to read fluently in English is a life skill that is crucial to academic success and to participate in the global arena. However, for several reasons, Indian children are trailing behind in their ability to read and comprehend English.

Children going to English medium schools are expected to learn, read and speak in English, a language that is aspirational yet alien to them and their surroundings. In India itself, of the 320 million school going children, an estimated 9 out of 10 children read below grade levels.

The main tools used by S2M, Ding and WhatsApp, were too disconnected and kept little distinction between personal and professional communication and required complex onboarding processes.

The Lark Advantage

For the S2M team, Lark provided a robust, easy to use solution that removed many of the hurdles associated with Ding and WhatsApp.

In particular, S2M highlighted Lark’s:

  1. Superior user-interface
  2. Ease of use through shortcuts and rich app integration
  3. Multi-device capabilities with Lark being built to be mobile first
  4. All-in-one integrated docs
  5. Top-notch customer support

Add to this Lark’s rich combination of rich communication modules including IM and mail, video conferencing, document creation and collaboration, online storage and a shared workspace, Lark has become the ultimate collaboration tool for S2M’s mission to create a nation of readers.
