Huawei to Run Mobile Medical Clinic Van in Gurugram

Huawei India partnered with Wockhardt Foundation and CanWinn Foundation to run a Mobile Medical Clinic Van, as a part of its nationwide CSR initiative. The activity focused on providing primary healthcare facilities to the needy in the city of Gurugram, slums in the city, and neighboring areas.  Smt. Madhu Azad, Mayor, Gurugram, Shri. M K Ahuja, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Gurugram, Dr. (Shri) Ashish Singhal, Chief Medical Officer, and Mr. Mayank Joshi, Director – Public Affairs and Communications from Huawei India were present at the flag-off ceremony.

Dr. Ashish Singla, Chief Medical Officer, Municipal Corporation Gurugram said, “Receiving primary healthcare is a fundamental right of every citizen and we firmly believe that our collective effort will enable us to provide healthcare facilities to every citizen of the society. The initiative will help enhance the healthcare infrastructure of Gurugram, enabling access to the healthcare facility to the last mile. The collaboration will also help boost our efforts to provide quality healthcare even to the vulnerable communities residing across the city, through the support of Huawei’s Mobile Medical Van”.

Commenting on the initiative David Li, CEO, Huawei India said “The recent past has made every one of us realize the importance of healthcare facilities and how vital they are in saving everyone’s lives. We at Huawei understand this and are committed to elevating basic healthcare facilities across regions, making them accessible for every section of society. Equipped with all the new-age medical equipment and medications, the Mobile Medical Van allows the citizens access to the basic healthcare facilities, required in times of any kind of illness or emergency.

Huawei’s partnership with Wockhardt and CanWinn Foundation will be a trademark in highlighting the need for basic healthcare facilities and will support the healthcare system fight against any kind of unprecedented health emergency. We also recently did a similar partnership with Wockhardt Foundation and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), and the medical van has been running successfully”.

Initially operated by Wockhardt Foundation, the Mobile Medical Clinic Van is created to cater to about 9,600 patients in 2 months, serving around 200 patients daily. The Mobile Clinic Van will be operated by a team comprising of 1 doctor, 1 pharmacist, and 1 driver to cover the Gurugram district area and will be conducting free OPD/ health screening sessions for the locals. To maintain regular track of the vehicle, the van is equipped with a GPS system, enabling the administrators to monitor the progress of the Van on a regular basis. 

The Van will also offer free basic health services and will be working towards creating awareness around sanitation, hygiene, mother and child healthcare, safe drinking water, immunization, anemia, de-worming, vector-borne diseases, HIV, snakebites, diabetes, and tuberculosis. Facilities/kits to diagnose malaria, hepatitis, dengue, typhoid, blood sugar, blood pressure, and other medical ailments will be on-boarded on the van. Along with this, the Van will also have provisions to refer complicated cases to specialty hospitals.

Huawei has also been partnering with multiple NGOs over the years to launch initiatives for social and community welfare. Initiatives like - facilitating schools with sanitation and digital facilities, funding research projects of leading institutes, supporting Covid relief, and donating to disaster relief funds have been some of the key highlights.

In addition to these, Huawei under its CSR programs in India has funded the construction of proper sanitation facilities in 94 schools, financed mid-day meals for more than 55,000 students across 50+govt and affiliated schools, and built digital/ smart classrooms in 101 schools, benefiting nearly 40,000 students across Uttar Pradesh, Telengana, Andhra Pradesh.

The company has also partnered with CSR foundations of industry stakeholders to support their initiatives around setting up a healthcare academy, providing IoT solutions for agriculture for farmers in Maharashtra and MP, and setting up Center of Excellence in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
