

Microsoft has announced to cut a small percentage of jobs across its functions due to strategic realignment. The employees were told that their roles have been eliminated as the company is evaluating the business and looking forward to grow the headcount next year. Job cut announcement is coincided with the new fiscal year as Microsoft starts is financial year from 1st July.
It is noted that this decision came after nearly 5 years as before that Microsoft had announced the job cut in 2017. In 2017, Microsoft did job cuts on a large scale which made thousands of employees to leave their jobs. As per the reports, the latest job cut by Microsoft will affect 1% of its total workforce. According to the reports, the total workforce of Microsoft was around 1.81 Lakh across the world.
As per the statement of Microsoft, “We notified a small number of employees that their roles have been eliminated. This was a result of strategic realignment and like all companies, we evaluate our business on regular basis. We continue to invest in certain areas and grow headcount next year.”
Microsoft is consistently achieving big milestones and has registered quite remarkable growth in last quarter. Microsoft posted a revenue of $49.4 billion in Q3 FY22. In addition, Microsoft Cloud revenue was stood up at $23.4 billion, up 32% year over year.
