Xiaomi India’s director of offline sales operations, Sunil Baby has resigned amidst the ongoing controversy with offline retailers. The offline retail partners keep on protesting against Xiaomi’s strategy of selling the popular smartphones through over online platforms. Though, the company claims that they priorities the offline partners always stand with them.

As per the company statement, Xiaomi has confirmed that Sunil Baby has resigned due to some personal reasons. Sunil was driving the company’s growth very efficiently and paved the way for an accelerated growth journey. He was playing an instrumental role for Xiaomi and helped the company to strengthen its position in the market. Sunil Bay also played a big role in expanding company’s retail presence across India. 

The resignation of Sunil Baby comes after Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director of Xiaomi resigned from his position and moved to Dubai. In the meantime, Muralikrishnan B, Chief Operating Officer, Xiaomi India will continue to spearhead the company’s offline sales and distribution strategy. 

As of now according to the sources, there will be no changes in the management of offline sales department. Amit Biswas will continue to oversee the western and eastern region, whereas Mallikarjun Rao BV will take care of the southern region. Rohit Khatter will remain in the charge of the offline sales in northern region. 

It is noted that Xiaomi is being investigated by the government authorities in the alleged illegal outward remittances. According to Enforcement Directorate (ED), Xiaomi has been charged for violating Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). In connection with this case, ED had taken control of the bank accounts of Xiaomi and had seized Rs. 5551.27 Crores.
