Rajeev: Being a leading player in the food business, how do you see the changing business scenario of the food industry where technology plays a very crucial role?
Manoj: We have redefined the traditional India Restaurant image by introducing a world-class, find-dining area in almost all of our mega outlets and for the same we are in need of a strong IT support structure.
A few years ago, no one would have ever imagined that food and technology would ever go hand in hand. However, through the years technology has been able to spread its wings over various industries including food and has brought about a change in the way we produce, process and distribute it. We have now been exposed to new and exciting techniques including robotics, 3D printing, and even eco-friendly packaging methods.
It becomes really important for players like us in the food industry to get along with the changing times and also experiment with the kind of technology that is available to us in order to stay competitive. Doing so, only helps us become better in what we do and also in improving the standard and quality of our products.
Rajeev: Why did you deploy Dell’s technology solution to upgrade your IT infrastructure? What are the emerging challenges that compelled you to go this way?
Manoj: We have been able to build Bikanervala into a brand that is known and admired by many due to the set quality and standard that our products possess. All leaders envision their business expanding and touching new heights, which was exactly what we wanted for Bikanervala. While we started branching out our business into different verticals, we met with a roadblock. Our IT systems were in dire need to scale up and become more agile without which we would not be able to meet our customers’ demands and needs as efficiently as we wanted to.
We quickly called upon our CIO who after analyzing our IT systems told us about the challenges that need our attention as early as possible. Some of those challenges were the lack of BCP, minimum to no consolidation of our workloads on servers, and the fact that our business critical applications lacked high availability and redundancy. Further, with the help of Arrow PC Network Technologies team, (via live optics assessment tool) we were also able to capture the gaps in IOPS latency, CPU Cycle, capacity Information from Dell EMC VxRail as well.
