A tragic road accident in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district on Saturday morning claimed the lives of seven people, while around 11 others were injured. The accident took place near Chaluj Mor, close to Devikothi, along the Bairagarh-Chamba road in the Churah subdivision.
According to preliminary information, a private bus operated by Sharma Travellers was travelling from Bairagarh towards Chamba when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The bus veered off the road and fell onto another road running below, leaving several passengers injured.
Accident Occurred Just Three Kilometres Into the Journey
The bus reportedly departed from Bairagarh for Chamba at around 6:30 AM on Saturday. It had travelled only about three kilometres when the accident occurred near Chaluj Mor.
The bus reportedly went out of control at the sharp turn before plunging down from the road. The impact resulted in multiple casualties, including the driver and conductor of the bus.
11 Passengers Injured
Around 11 people were injured in the crash, with several reportedly in serious condition. Following the accident, rescue and relief efforts were launched in the area, and the injured were taken for medical treatment.
The exact cause of the accident has not yet been established. Police and local authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the bus losing control.
Safety Concerns on Mountain Roads
The accident has once again highlighted the risks associated with travelling on mountainous roads, where sharp bends, steep slopes, and difficult terrain can make passenger transport particularly challenging.
Authorities are expected to provide further details regarding the identities of those killed and injured, as well as the findings of the investigation into the crash.
