Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport in Rajasthan, marking a major milestone in India's aviation infrastructure expansion. Built at a cost of ₹480 crore, the state-of-the-art terminal is expected to significantly enhance passenger capacity while boosting tourism, trade, and economic activity across the region.

Modern Terminal to Handle 20 Lakh Passengers Annually

Spread across more than 23,000 square metres, the newly inaugurated terminal has been designed to accommodate up to 20 lakh passengers every year. The facility features modern passenger amenities aimed at providing a smoother, faster, and more comfortable travel experience.

The new infrastructure is expected to meet the growing demand for air travel in western Rajasthan while strengthening regional and domestic connectivity.

Blending Rajasthan's Heritage with Modern Architecture

One of the terminal's standout features is its architectural design, which reflects Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage. Traditional elements such as arches, jharokhas, and royal-inspired aesthetics have been integrated with contemporary airport infrastructure, offering travelers a blend of cultural identity and modern functionality.

The design showcases India's growing emphasis on developing world-class airports while preserving regional architectural character.

Boost for Tourism, Trade and Employment

The upgraded airport is expected to play a crucial role in driving tourism, improving business connectivity, and creating new employment opportunities in Rajasthan. Improved air connectivity is also likely to support local industries, hospitality, and commerce by making Jodhpur more accessible to domestic and international visitors.

Modified UDAN Scheme Launched

During the event, Prime Minister Modi also launched the Modified UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) Scheme, reinforcing the government's commitment to expanding affordable regional air connectivity.

The revised scheme aims to strengthen India's aviation network by improving access to underserved and remote regions, making air travel more affordable while supporting economic development across the country.

The inauguration of the new Jodhpur Airport terminal and the launch of the modified UDAN scheme underscore the government's continued focus on modernizing aviation infrastructure and enhancing regional connectivity.
