A couple in Patiala's Ghuman Nagar area sustained multiple injuries after they were allegedly attacked by a pitbull while visiting a property they were considering for rent. The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday evening and has drawn attention after purported CCTV footage of the attack began circulating on social media.
The couple, identified as Ankit Sabharwal and his wife Shifali, had reportedly visited the locality with a property dealer to inspect the house before deciding whether to rent it.
CCTV Footage Shows Attack
The purported CCTV footage shows the dog attacking the couple while people nearby attempt to intervene. Several residents can be seen using sticks in an effort to drive the animal away.
At one point, a woman reportedly comes out of the house carrying a stick and attempts to stop the dog. The animal continues attacking until additional people arrive and manage to pull the injured couple away from it.
The footage has since generated concern online over the safety of residents and visitors in the locality.
Woman Suffers Serious Injuries
The couple reportedly suffered multiple injuries during the attack, with Shifali sustaining deep wounds. The extent of their injuries and their current medical condition have not been independently confirmed.
The incident has also raised questions about whether the dog was being adequately restrained or supervised.
Police Complaint Sought
Ankit said that the police have been informed about the incident. He has sought action against those allegedly responsible for allowing the dog to roam freely and has urged authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Police action and the ownership details of the animal are awaited.

The incident has once again brought attention to concerns surrounding attacks by powerful breeds in residential neighbourhoods.
