The death toll from a landslide in Mumbai's Kurla area has risen to seven after heavy rainfall triggered a major disaster in the city during the early hours of Wednesday. Several people have also been injured, while rescue teams continue searching for those feared trapped beneath the debris.
The incident occurred at around 3 AM in the Ashoknagar area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ghatkopar police. Continuous rainfall in Mumbai has worsened conditions across several parts of the city, raising the risk of landslides and other rain-related incidents.
Rescue Teams Search for Those Trapped
Police and emergency response agencies immediately launched rescue operations after receiving information about the landslide. Personnel from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), police and other agencies have been deployed at the site.
DCP Ganesh Shinde said that around four to five people were feared trapped when the rescue operation was underway. Teams are working through the debris to locate survivors and assess the extent of damage.

The landslide comes as Mumbai continues to experience heavy rainfall, affecting normal life and creating hazardous conditions in several parts of the metropolitan region.
