

A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was killed during a joint counter-terrorism operation carried out by security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The encounter took place in the Chanpora area following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants.
Joint Security Operation
The operation was conducted jointly by security agencies in the Chanpora area of Shopian. During the encounter, one terrorist affiliated with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was neutralised.
Confirming the operation, police shared a message on social media stating:
Terrorist Identified as Zakir Gania
While officials did not immediately release the identity of the slain militant, sources told Hindustan Times that the terrorist was Zakir Gania, an operative of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations to determine his role in previous terror-related activities in the region.
Search Operations Continue
Following the encounter, security forces launched a search operation in and around the area to ensure no other militants were present and to recover any weapons, ammunition, or other incriminating material.
The operation is part of the ongoing counter-terror efforts aimed at dismantling terrorist networks operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
