Fresh CCTV footage released by the family of nine-year-old Amaira has brought renewed attention to the tragic incident at Jaipur's Neerja Modi School, where the Class 4 student died after falling from the fourth floor of the school building in November 2025. The family claims the footage supports its allegations that the child was subjected to repeated bullying and that her appeals for help were ignored by school authorities.
Amaira lost her life on November 1 after falling nearly 48 feet from the school's fourth floor. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Since then, her parents have consistently maintained that prolonged bullying inside the classroom, coupled with the school's alleged failure to intervene, drove their daughter to take the extreme step.
Family Releases CCTV Footage
The CCTV footage, accompanied by a voice-over from Amaira's parents, reconstructs the events leading up to the incident. According to the family, the video captures several moments that raise concerns about how the child was treated in the classroom shortly before her death.
The footage shows Amaira entering the classroom, greeting classmates, and participating in a dance activity. Later, a group of students is seen bringing a digital slate into the classroom.
The family alleges that some students repeatedly showed content on the digital slate to Amaira, causing visible discomfort. According to them, the child's body language changed noticeably as she appeared embarrassed and emotionally disturbed while the interaction continued.
Allegations of Ignored Pleas for Help
The CCTV footage reportedly shows Amaira approaching her class teacher, Puneeta Sharma, multiple times. Her parents claim she was attempting to explain the situation and seek assistance.
According to the family's allegations, other students repeatedly interrupted these conversations, preventing Amaira from speaking privately with the teacher. The video also reportedly captures the child folding her hands while talking to the teacher, covering her mouth, and holding her head, appearing visibly distressed.
The family further alleges that instead of comforting the child, the teacher responded in a stern manner and failed to adequately address her concerns.
Child Left Classroom Alone
Moments later, Amaira is seen leaving the classroom by herself. Her parents allege that no teacher or member of the school staff followed her or attempted to stop her as she moved through the school premises before reaching the fourth floor, from where she fell.
The family believes the footage highlights serious lapses in supervision and raises questions about the school's duty of care towards students showing visible signs of emotional distress.
Parents Seek Stronger Legal Action
Along with releasing the CCTV footage, Amaira's parents have accused the investigating authorities of failing to conduct a comprehensive probe into the incident. They have demanded that stricter provisions under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act be invoked against the school's principal and chairman, in addition to the class teacher already named in the case.
The family maintains that the school administration failed to prevent bullying, ignored repeated warning signs, and did not ensure adequate child safety measures on campus. They hope the newly released footage will lead to a more thorough investigation and accountability for those responsible.
If you or someone you know is experiencing emotional distress or thoughts of self-harm, seek immediate support from trusted family members, friends, or a qualified mental health professional. Help is available.
