Japanese technology major Fujifilm is planning a phased investment of around ₹800 crore to set up a semiconductor materials manufacturing facility in Gujarat’s Dholera, strengthening its partnership with Tata Electronics and India’s expanding chip ecosystem.
Facility to Support Tata Electronics’ Semiconductor Plans
Fujifilm is partnering with Tata Electronics to develop a manufacturing facility focused on materials required for semiconductor production. The project is planned for the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) in Gujarat.
The facility is expected to supply specialised materials for Tata Electronics’ upcoming semiconductor fabrication operations in Dholera. The partnership brings together Fujifilm’s experience in semiconductor materials and Tata Electronics’ growing manufacturing capabilities in India.
Focus on High-Purity Semiconductor Materials
The proposed facility will focus on producing high-purity chemicals and other specialised materials used during semiconductor manufacturing.
Such materials play an important role in chip fabrication, where strict quality standards and high levels of purity are required throughout the manufacturing process.
By establishing production capacity within India, the partnership could contribute to the development of a more locally integrated semiconductor supply chain.
Fujifilm to Bring Technology and Manufacturing Expertise
Under the partnership, Fujifilm is expected to contribute its expertise in semiconductor materials, technology transfer, manufacturing processes and quality assurance.
