Flipkart is ramping up its workforce and logistics infrastructure ahead of the festive shopping season, creating more than 2.5 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities across India as it prepares for higher order volumes during Big Billion Days.
75,000 Opportunities for First-Time Workers
The e-commerce major has expanded its seasonal workforce to meet the expected increase in customer demand during the festive period.
Of the more than 2.5 lakh employment opportunities, nearly 75,000 are expected to go to first-time workers. The company is also strengthening its last-mile operations, with around 1.4 lakh roles connected to delivery activities.
The expansion is expected to provide additional employment opportunities while helping Flipkart manage the substantial increase in shipments during the festive shopping period.
900+ New Delivery Hubs Added
Alongside hiring, Flipkart is increasing its logistics capacity through its Ekart network.
The company has added more than 900 festive delivery hubs, taking the total number of facilities in its logistics network to over 7,000 across India.
The additional infrastructure is aimed at improving order processing and strengthening last-mile delivery capabilities during the period when e-commerce platforms typically experience a sharp increase in orders.
Flipkart Minutes Adds Quick-Commerce Capacity
Flipkart is also expanding its quick-commerce offering, Flipkart Minutes, in eligible locations.
Depending on product availability and the customer's location, the service can enable deliveries within minutes for selected products. The expansion gives Flipkart an additional channel to cater to customers seeking faster delivery during the festive season.
Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cities Drive Expansion
The company's festive preparations also highlight the increasing importance of India's smaller cities and towns in the e-commerce market.
With online shopping gaining traction beyond major metropolitan areas, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities are becoming an increasingly important part of festive demand. Flipkart's expanded delivery infrastructure is designed to support this broader geographic reach.
Preparing for a Festive Order Surge
The combination of seasonal hiring, additional delivery hubs and the expansion of quick-commerce services is aimed at ensuring Flipkart can handle increased order volumes during Big Billion Days.
With more workers supporting last-mile operations and a larger logistics network spread across the country, the company is positioning its delivery infrastructure to manage the festive shopping rush more efficiently.
