Delhi Police has asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to consider restricting entry and exit at 57 metro stations ahead of proposed protests at Jantar Mantar and other locations in the New Delhi district on Saturday, October 10.

According to a report citing a letter dated October 8 from the Joint Commissioner of Police, Transport Range, the proposed measures are intended to manage crowd movement and strengthen security around sensitive locations.

The request also includes the possibility of reducing metro train frequency at the identified stations, depending on the security situation.

Police Cite Crowd Management Concerns

The police communication reportedly highlighted the possibility of large crowds moving towards protest sites, prompting authorities to consider additional precautions across the metro network.

The proposed restrictions would affect station entry and exit gates from 9 PM on Friday, October 9, according to the report. However, the request asks DMRC to consider these measures; it does not, by itself, confirm that all 57 stations will be closed.

DMRC to Consider Proposed Restrictions

The Delhi Metro is a major transport option for commuters across the National Capital Region. Any restrictions on station access or train frequency could affect evening travel and journeys planned around the protest period.

Passengers should check official DMRC announcements for confirmation of affected stations, timings and any changes to metro services before travelling.

Security Arrangements Ahead of Jantar Mantar Protest

The proposed measures come ahead of a protest planned by the CJP at Jantar Mantar and other locations in the New Delhi district.

Authorities are expected to focus on crowd management and security around sensitive areas. The final arrangements will depend on decisions taken by the relevant police and metro authorities.

Commuters travelling through central Delhi are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and verify the latest service updates before heading out.
