Security was heightened across Delhi after multiple sensitive locations, including the Delhi High Court and Indira Gandhi International Airport, reportedly received bomb threats ahead of Independence Day. The threats were received at a time when security arrangements across the national capital had already been tightened for August 15.
The Delhi High Court received a threatening email on Friday, prompting authorities to initiate precautionary measures and security checks within the premises.
Threat Email Warns of Blast at 2:11 PM
According to information available so far, the email sent to the Delhi High Court carried the subject line “30 MB Blast at the Delhi High Court” and claimed that an explosion would take place at 2:11 PM.
The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) Joint Secretary Kunal Malhotra described the threat as apparently fake, while confirming that precautionary measures had been implemented.
Authorities continued to treat the communication seriously as security agencies assessed the threat and carried out necessary checks.
Several Other Locations Also Receive Threats
The security alert was not limited to the High Court. According to the Delhi Fire Service, bomb threat calls were also received concerning several other locations across the capital.
The locations included:
Jamnagar House
Jhandewalan Flatted Factory Complex
MB Saket Office/DM Office
Terminal 3 of IGI Airport
SDM Office, Delhi Cantt
Fire tenders were dispatched to the reported locations as part of the emergency response, according to information reported by ANI.
Security Tightened Ahead of Independence Day
The multiple threats come just a day before Independence Day, when security measures are traditionally intensified across Delhi, particularly around government buildings, transport hubs, public spaces and other sensitive installations.
Security agencies are expected to conduct detailed searches and verify the credibility of the threats before issuing further updates.
Authorities Continue Verification
There were no immediate reports confirming that explosives had been found at any of the locations mentioned in the threats. Officials are continuing security checks and verification procedures.
Given the timing and number of locations involved, authorities are maintaining heightened vigilance across the capital to ensure public safety ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
