More than a year after Operation Sindoor, the Central Government has, for the first time, officially disclosed the identities of six Indian Armed Forces personnel who lost their lives during the military operation against Pakistan. The announcement marks the first formal public acknowledgment of the armed forces' casualties sustained during the mission.

The names of the fallen personnel have now been included in the official Roll of Honour, recognizing their sacrifice in service to the nation. Until this announcement, the government had neither publicly identified the personnel nor officially confirmed military fatalities linked to Operation Sindoor. Six Bravehearts Honoured

The six personnel officially recognized are:

  • Subedar Major Pawan Kumar – Indian Army

  • Rifleman Sunil Kumar – Indian Army

  • Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar – Indian Army

  • Agniveer Mood Murli Naik – Indian Army

  • Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh – Indian Army

  • Sergeant Surendra Kumar – Indian Air Force

Their inclusion in the Roll of Honour is being viewed as a significant step in formally commemorating their service and sacrifice during one of India's major military operations.

Gallantry Awards Recognize Exceptional Courage

Among the six personnel, Rifleman Sunil Kumar was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra, India's third-highest wartime gallantry decoration, in recognition of his exceptional bravery during the operation.

Meanwhile, Sergeant Surendra Kumar of the Indian Air Force was posthumously honoured with the Vayu Medal, acknowledging his distinguished service and courage.

These honours underscore the extraordinary dedication displayed by the personnel while carrying out their duties under challenging operational conditions.

Formal Recognition of Operation Sindoor Sacrifices

Operation Sindoor has remained one of India's significant military operations, though official details regarding casualties had largely remained undisclosed until now.

The government's decision to publicly identify the fallen soldiers through the Roll of Honour provides long-awaited official recognition of their contribution and sacrifice.

Military observers note that such acknowledgments serve not only as a tribute to the personnel but also as an important part of preserving the legacy of those who laid down their lives in service of the country.

Honouring the Nation's Bravehearts

The recognition of these six servicemen highlights the sacrifices made by India's armed forces in safeguarding national security. Their courage and commitment continue to inspire generations of soldiers and citizens alike.

As the nation remembers their service, the Roll of Honour stands as a lasting tribute to their dedication and the ultimate price they paid while protecting the country's interests.
