Supporters Express Growing Concern Over Activist's Condition
Calls for climate activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his indefinite hunger strike have intensified as concerns over his health continue to grow. On Tuesday, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke shared an update on social media, stating that Wangchuk's physical condition has deteriorated after days of fasting.
According to Dipke, the activist has experienced significant weight loss and has begun losing muscle mass, raising concerns about the impact of the prolonged hunger strike on his health. He added that Wangchuk is enduring considerable physical discomfort as the fast continues.
Health Update Shared on Social Media
In a post on X, Dipke claimed that Wangchuk has lost approximately 8.5 kilograms since beginning the hunger strike. He also shared that the activist's blood pressure was recorded at 109/70, describing the situation as increasingly serious.
Dipke revealed that he had a brief conversation with Wangchuk during which he appealed to him to end the indefinite fast, citing the growing health risks associated with the protest.
Public Appeals Continue
The latest health update has prompted renewed appeals from several public figures urging Wangchuk to reconsider his decision and prioritize his well-being. Supporters have expressed concern that the prolonged fast could have serious medical consequences if it continues.
While Wangchuk's protest has drawn significant public attention, the growing focus has now shifted toward his health, with many urging a resolution that safeguards both his cause and his physical condition.
As discussions continue, attention remains on whether the activist will respond to the appeals and whether any further developments emerge regarding the issues that prompted the hunger strike.
