Anthropic has taken another significant step in expanding its footprint in India by introducing localized pricing for its Claude AI subscription plans. The move enables customers to pay in Indian Rupees (INR), eliminating the need for US dollar transactions and making premium AI services more accessible for individuals and businesses across the country.

The announcement reflects Anthropic's growing commitment to the Indian market, which has rapidly emerged as one of the world's most important destinations for artificial intelligence adoption. By offering local pricing, the company aims to simplify the subscription process, reduce payment-related barriers, and improve the overall customer experience.

Local Pricing Across Claude Subscription Plans

Under the revised pricing structure, Claude Pro is available at ₹2,000 per month with annual billing or ₹2,399 per month on a monthly subscription. For users requiring greater computing capacity and higher usage limits, Claude Max is offered in two tiers priced at ₹11,999 and ₹23,999 per month.

Businesses looking to deploy Claude across teams can opt for the Claude Team plan, which starts at ₹2,399 per user per month with annual billing. Anthropic confirmed that all listed prices are inclusive of GST, providing greater pricing transparency for Indian customers.

India Emerges as a Strategic Growth Market

According to Anthropic, India has become its second-largest market after the United States, contributing 5.8% of Claude's global user base. The milestone highlights the country's growing appetite for generative AI technologies among developers, enterprises, startups, and knowledge workers.

To support its long-term expansion strategy, the company has established operations in Bengaluru, strengthening its local presence while collaborating with ecosystem partners such as Razorpay to enable businesses to build AI-powered applications and services more efficiently.

Competition Intensifies in India's AI Landscape

Anthropic's latest announcement comes as competition among global AI companies continues to accelerate in India. Technology giants including OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Perplexity are actively expanding their AI offerings, investing in partnerships, enterprise solutions, and developer ecosystems to capture a share of the country's rapidly growing market.

With India's large digital economy, expanding startup ecosystem, and increasing enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence, the country is becoming a key strategic destination for AI innovation and commercialization.

As global AI adoption continues to rise, localized pricing and stronger regional investments are expected to play an increasingly important role in making advanced AI tools more accessible to Indian users while supporting the country's growing digital transformation journey.
