Leh in Ladakh was jolted by an earthquake measuring 5.5 magnitude early Thursday morning, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The tremor occurred at around 6:05 AM on August 13, 2026, with its epicentre recorded in the Leh region.
The earthquake originated at a relatively shallow depth of 10 kilometres, which can make tremors more strongly felt in nearby areas.

According to data shared by the NCS, the earthquake was recorded at 36.881°N latitude and 74.402°E longitude, with a depth of 10 kilometres.
