PM Modi Hosted Roundtable Meeting with Top 15 American CEOs

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a roundtable meeting with 15 CEOs of American tech companies, emphasizing India’s growth prospects. The highlight of the discussion was the initiative to promote bilateral alliances across various sectors. The meeting was organized at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel on Sunday, as part of PM’s three-day tour to the U.S. The roundtable witnessed the participation of CEOs from 15 leading U.S.-based companies specializing in advanced technologies, including quantum computing, AI, and semiconductors.

"Had a fruitful roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing aspects relating to technology, innovation and more. Also highlighted the strides made by India in this field. I am glad to see immense optimism towards India," said Modi in his post on X.

“Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of the MIT School of Engineering and its Dean for bringing the technology leaders together. He noted that technology collaboration and efforts such as the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies [ICET] lie at the core of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership,” according to the press release from the Ministry of External Affairs.

“He stressed that in his third term, India will make every effort to become the third largest economy in the world. He encouraged the companies to take advantage of India’s growth story for collaboration and innovation. They can co-develop, co-design, and co-produce in India for the world, harnessing the opportunities from India’s economic and technological growth. He assured the business leaders of India’s deep commitment to protection of intellectual property and to fostering tech-innovation.”

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering organized the conference and was attended by prominent CEOs from leading U.S. tech companies, including Adobe’s Shantanu Narayen, Google’s Sundar Pichai, NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang, and Accenture’s Julie Sweet. The roundtable was also graced by AMD CEO Lisa Su, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, HP Inc. CEO Enrique Lores, Chairman of Moderna David Rubenstein, Dr Noubar Afeyan, and Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg.

Other conglomerates who attended the event include, Eli Lilly and Company CEO David A. Ricks, GlobalFoundries CEO Thomas Caulfield, Biogen Inc. CEO Chris Viehbacher, LAM Research CEO Tim Archer, Kyndryl CEO Martin Schroeter, and Bristol Myers Squibb CEO Chris Boerner.

PM emphasised India's growth prospects and discussed initiatives to foster collaborations and innovation across diverse sectors," the official account of the MEA said in a post on X.

The NVIDIA CEO appreciated Indian Prime Minister saying, “Modi is an incredible student, always eager to learn about technology, AI, the potential and opportunity for India, and the impact on Indian society and industry.”

While praising India’s visionary DigitalIndia initiative, Huang said, "India is home to some of the world's greatest computer scientists. This is a great opportunity. AI is a new and important industry and so I'm looking forward to partner with India in a very deep way to make that possible."

Following the meeting, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, “The Prime Minister has been focused on transforming India, with his hashtag #DigitalIndia vision. He pushed us to continue Making in India, Designing in India.... He is really thinking about how AI can transform India in a way that benefits the people of India... He's always challenged us to do more...”
