MeitY And UP Government Host Cybersecurity Workshop For State Officials

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), through its National e-Governance Division (NeGD), in partnership with the Center for e-Governance, Department of IT & Electronics, Government of Uttar Pradesh, conducted a two-day Cybersecurity Workshop at Yojana Bhawan, Lucknow, on 11th and 12th November 2024.

The event was attended by more than 150 participants, including State Leaders, Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), and Deputy CISOs from various Uttar Pradesh government departments. The workshop points to raising cybersecurity awareness and strengthening defense capabilities among state government department officials while equipping them to effectively mitigate cyber risks. The Cybersecurity Training Program was designed for State Leaderships, CISOs, and Deputy CISOs to enhance cybersecurity resilience and preparedness among state officials.

The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Manoj Kumar Singh, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh. In his address, Manoj underscored the significance of cybersecurity in protecting e-governance services and digital infrastructure in the state, while pressing upon the necessity of cyber capabilities among officials to confront evolving cyber threats to the government departments. Other attendees include Shri Anil Kumar Sagar, Principal Secretary IT&E; Ms. Neha Jain, Special Secretary IT&E & MD UPDESCO; and Shri Naveen Arora, ADG Technical Services, Home among other senior officers.

The agenda of the two-day workshop revolved around raising awareness about important cybersecurity issues, e-governance, and cyber threats. It also talked about upscaling the Cyber Resilience Ecosystem and integration of AI in cybersecurity. The event also pressed upon equipping participants on Cyber Suraksha Kendra knowledge, providing in-depth sessions on DPDP ACT, endpoint security, and application security. Equipping participants with skills to develop Cyber Crisis Management Plans (CCMP) for effective response to cybersecurity incidents; and tackle identity and access management issues to enhance the security of digital systems within government departments.
