The Indian government’s Jeevan Pramaan initiative, aimed at the digital empowerment of pensioners, has paved the way for the successful organization of the Digital Life Certificate Campaign 3.0 in 800 cities and towns across India and 1.8 lac postmen are being deployed spanning the country. The campaign runs from November 1 to November 30, 2024. The Department of Pensions and Pensioners’ Welfare introduced this nationwide drive at the National Media Center in New Delhi on November 6, 2024, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing convenience and accessibility for pension holders.

To make the campaign successful, the Department of Pensions and Pensioners’ Welfare has raised awareness about the DLC Face Authentication technique by pasting banners and posters across all bank branches and ATMs and having a team of members appointed to help pensioners with the technique. In case, the pension holders are aged, ill, or weak to not able to visit the Bank Branches, there is a provision for Bank officials to visit their homes or hospitals to inform them about the above purpose.

Through the dedicated efforts of the Pensioners' Department, the initiative has reached a remarkable milestone, generating over 77 lakh Digital Life Certificates. Notably, 1,77,153 pensioners aged above 90 years and 17,212 pensioners between the ages of 80 and 90 were able to submit their DLCs conveniently from their homes, offices, or nearby locations, by the end of the second week.

Key Highlights Of DLC Campaign:

  • As part of the DLC campaign, among total 4 mega camps 2 in Delhi, 1 in Bengaluru, and 1 in Hyderabad were organised.

  • In the bank-wise achievement, SBI and PNB are among the top banks generating over 9 lacs, while Central Bank of India and Canara Bank registered impressive performance with 57,000 and 1 lac DLCs respectively.

  • In the state-wise progress, Maharashtra is leading by generating over 10 lacs certificates, followed by West Bengal and Tamil Nadu with 6 lacs each.

  • By the department-wise contribution, the defense department scored 21 lacs DLCs, whereas the Telecom Department garnered 3.1 lacs DLCs. By generating 3.4 lacs certificates, Civil Departments also showed an impressive number.

  • IPPB initiated 4.4 lacs DLCs by playing a significant role in delivering services at doorsteps.

  • Face Recognition alone contributed to generating an impressive 24 lacs certificates, which is 34% of the total generated DLCs. There is a 204 times surge in DLC via Face Authentication.

All key stakeholders involved in the campaign include the Department of Pensions and Pensioners Welfare, Pension disbursing banks, the Controller General of Defence Accounts, the Department of Telecom, the Ministry of Railways, the Department of Posts, UIDAI, IIPB, and Pensioners Welfare Associations. Together they are working towards strengthening the ambitious plan - Digital Empowerment of Pensioners.
