

The AI Action Summit took place at the Grand Palais in Paris, France, on February 10 and 11, 2025. It convened heads of state and government including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leaders from international organizations, CEOs from small and large companies, representatives from academia, non-governmental organizations, artists, and members of civil society.
While addressing the presented dignitaries, Modi acknowledged the role of AI in reshaping security and societies. “AI is writing the code for humanity in this century. But it is very different from other technology milestones in human history.”
PM Modi’s Opening Remarks
PM Modi initiated his opening address “with a simple experiment. If you upload your medical report to an AI app, it can explain in simple language, free of any jargon, what it means for your health. But, if you ask the same app to draw an image of someone writing with their Left hand, the app will most likely draw someone writing with their Right hand. Because that is what the training data is dominated by.”
Appreciating the host for organizing the event, he said, “It shows that while the positive potential of AI is absolutely amazing, there are many biases that we need to think carefully about. That is why I am grateful to my friend, President Macron, for hosting this summit. And for inviting me to co-chair it.”
Throughout his speech, Modi emphasized the accelerated role of AI in transforming industries like “health, education, agriculture and so much more.” He also vocalized the right of access to innovation, “especially in the global south.”
US And UK Opted Out Of "Statement on Inclusive and Sustainable Artificial Intelligence"
At the Paris AI Summit, a declaration communique entitled "Statement on Inclusive and Sustainable Artificial Intelligence" to promote “inclusive and sustainable” AI was endorsed by around 55-60 countries including France, India, and China.
However, as a significant outcome of the summit, the United States and the United Kingdom refused to sign the same, expressing concerns that the proposed regulations might obstruct innovation and economic growth. The UK justified its move reasoning its disquiet over the lack of clarity on worldwide AI governance and national security.
EU On Simplifying Rules For Global AI Implementation
In another development at the AI Summit, the European Union's digital chief Henna Virkkunen promised to simplify rules to be implemented in a more business-friendly manner. "We will simplify," Macron said. "It's very clear we have to resynchronize with the rest of the world."
Google CEO Sundar Pichai At The AI Summit
Sundar Pichai also joined in the summit and took part in the conversation in the panel. "Europe's productivity is dependent on using this emerging technology," Alphabet, CEO Sundar Pichai said. He emphasized the need to develop ecosystems of AI adoption and innovation as in France. "How do we create more of these pockets in more places?"

PM Modi’s closing remarks at the AI Summit in Paris, France: “Friends, today's discussions have brought one thing, there is unity in vision and unity in purpose across stakeholders. I welcome the decision to set up the AI Foundation at the Council for Sustainable AI. I congratulate France and my dear friend President Macron for these initiatives and with our full support we must also make the global partnership for AI truly Global in nature. It should be more inclusive of the global South and its priorities concerns and needs to build on the momentum.”
Investment Announcements
The insightful AI Action Summit Paris concluded on a promising note intending to leverage AI for global improvements and access to all. Among some of the significant announcements from the leading icons of the IT industry are 110 Billion euro investment pledges taken at the summit, as reported by Reuters.
Notably, the Canadian investment company Brookfield uncovered its plan to invest 20 B euros, while the UAE unveiled its intentions to project 50 B euros in France. Amazon, Apollo, Digital Reality, Equinix, Fluidstack, Mistral, and other global firms were among those announcing their investment plans in Artificial intelligence in France.
