Veranda Learning Solutions has launched Veranda Pathfinder, an initiative dedicated to fostering inclusive education. As a first step, Veranda Pathfinder has hand-picked 34 students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds and is offering free training for the TNPSC (Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission) exams.
Veranda Learning believes that education is a fundamental right for every individual, regardless of his/her socio-economic status. By offering free education, Veranda Pathfinder aims to open doors to quality learning experiences for those facing financial constraints.
Ms. Gomathi, hailing from a humble background, feels that being part of the Veranda Pathfinder program has boosted her self-confidence. “I began my TNPSC preparations through self-studies at home last year. Once I joined the Veranda Pathfinder program on a scholarship, my level of preparations has gone up by many notches. Regular tests, constant support from my mentors have given me a lot of self-belief to clear the exams,” Ms. Gomathi said.
Ms. Smitha Kumaran, Head of Veranda Pathfinder, said the students were chosen based on their intent and economic background. “The selection process for the students were fair and transparent. Our students belong to families whose annual income is less than Rs 3 lakh. More importantly, we chose students who had the hunger to succeed. In short, the intent of a student was a key criterion,” Ms. Smitha said.
For Mr. Suresh Kalpathi, Executive Director and Chairman of Veranda Learning Solutions, the initiative is close to his heart. “It is always about being able to give back. The origin for this initiative also comes from my belief that affordability, sometimes, cuts off accessibility to quality education. Students who are part of Veranda Pathfinder have been given free education based on merit and means based evaluation,” said Mr. Suresh Kalpathi.
Veranda Learning Solutions is actively working on partnerships and collaborations to make this initiative sustainable and scalable over the long term. “With Veranda Pathfinder, we are making strides towards broader access to education and ensuring that no student is left behind. This initiative is integral to all our business ventures and aims to create a ripple effect that will contribute to a more educated and empowered society,” Mr. Suresh Kalpathi mentioned.
