Great Learning has partnered with HerKey, a platform committed to accelerating the growth of women professionals, to launch the ‘STEMTheBias’ campaign on account of Women's Day. The campaign is designed to raise awareness and drive action against gender bias in AI and tech fields. Building on its commitment to empowering women, through this campaign, Great Learning offers scholarships to women across key global markets, encouraging enrollment in AI, data science, and tech programs.
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming industries, yet gender disparities persist, with women holding only 28% of the global STEM workforce and just 22% of AI roles worldwide, according to the World Economic Forum. This imbalance contributes to systemic gender biases in the algorithms that shape our daily lives. As part of the campaign, Great Learning is offering an exclusive scholarship across its AI, data science, and technology programs, inviting women to take part in creating a more equitable and inclusive tech ecosystem.
Commenting on the campaign, Aparna Mahesh, Chief Marketing Officer of Great Learning said, “Without adequate representation, AI systems risk reinforcing societal biases rather than solving them. A lack of diversity in STEM jobs and AI development leads to technology that mirrors the same blind spots we see in society. With this campaign, we aim to educate and sensitise everyone, while empowering more women to participate in the rapidly changing world of technology.”
Women from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply for the exclusive scholarship and join the movement toward building a more inclusive and diverse tech landscape. Aspirants looking to pursue careers in AI, data science, and technology can apply for the ‘STEMTheBias’ scholarship between March 5th to 25th, 2025. Great Learning is committed to empowering women, regardless of whether they come from a technical or non-technical educational background, to explore AI education and make a meaningful impact. The scholarship can be utilized to enrol in select programs until April 15th, 2025.
As part of the initiative, Great Learning is also launching an ad campaign aimed at challenging these inherent biases and highlighting the critical need for diverse perspectives in AI development. The video depicts a Gen AI platform, which when prompted to generate visuals of professionals like programmers and CEOs, predominantly produces images of men—underscoring the gender bias that continues to pervade the technology. The video powerfully conveys the message, 'AI doesn’t create bias. It reflects the bias we feed it,' calling for greater representation of women in AI to break the cycle of bias and ignite essential conversations about diversity and inclusion in tech. The campaign will be implemented across major social media platforms, including YouTube, to drive engagement, raise awareness, and inspire action.
