Digital Terminal has successfully wrapped up its landmark 10th edition of the Digital Terminal Partners Summit 2024. This milestone event brought together IT industry experts and a distinguished group of channel partners to share insights on the tech industry's evolution and its future prospects.
A standout feature of the summit was the engaging panel discussion on the theme "Emerging Market Opportunities and Challenges for Tech Partners and IT Businesses." The session aimed to foster dialogue and educate distributors and partners on the ongoing efforts to build and sustain strong relationships in the tech supply chain. The panel featured prominent figures including Alok Gupta, President, PCAIT; Rajesh Khurana, Country Manager-Consumer Business, BIWIN Technology; Purshottam Bhatia, Head of Consumer Sales, South Asia, Kaspersky; Devesh Rastogi, President, FAIITA; Champakraj Gurjar, President, TAIT; Rohit Sharma, Enterprise Presales Manager, India, Micron Semiconductors India Pvt Ltd; and Satish Arora, Senior General Manager, Savex Technologies.
Challenges of Low-Quality Brands
Mr. Rajesh Khurana highlighted a pressing issue: the influx of low-quality Chinese brands into the Indian market. He contrasted this with the premium brands like HP, Asus, and Lenovo offered by his company, suggesting that aligning with these reputable brands presents a significant opportunity for channel partners.
He also noted that the introduction of AI and 5G services in India represents a major opportunity. With 50% of 5G adoption expected this year and AI advancing rapidly, there is a growing demand for high-speed, low-latency SSDs. BIWIN's latest SSDs, offering transfer rates of 14,500 MB per second, are well-positioned to meet this demand. The company's Predator Gaming Series SSDs, known for their top-tier quality and performance, are also highlighted as a key asset.
Attracting Quality Talent
Mr. Alok Gupta addressed the challenges faced by IT partners in managing large projects and attracting skilled talent. PCAIT members have started collaborating to tackle these challenges by joining forces to bid for tenders. Gupta emphasized the difficulty in retaining quality employees, who often leave for OEMs within a short period.
FAIITA's Initiatives for Partner Growth
Mr. Devesh Rastogi discussed FAIITA's initiatives to create a favorable business environment. He noted that India's IT literacy is expected to double in the next three years, though it still lags behind countries like China. FAIITA's "New Opportunities" initiative suggests new projects and manufacturing opportunities to add value beyond traditional business models. The โIndia IT Mallโ was introduced to offer cost-effective e-commerce solutions with zero commission, though it is still a work in progress.
Cybersecurity in the Age of IoT
Mr. Purshottam Bhatia emphasized the critical need for cybersecurity, particularly in the context of smart homes connected through IoT. With a significant portion of the Indian population online, there is a growing need for expert cybersecurity solutions. Bhatia stressed the importance of sharing information about cybersecurity with consumers and focusing on profit margins while providing top-quality solutions.
Navigating Rapid Technological Transitions
Mr. Rohit Sharma discussed the challenges posed by rapid technological transitions, such as moving from Gen3 to Gen5 NVMs. He noted that the fast pace of technology creates difficulties for both partners and end customers. Micron addresses these challenges through proactive communication, training, and demos to help partners support their customers effectively.
Growth Opportunities in Mumbai
Mr. Champakraj Gurjar highlighted the significant growth in Mumbai, which is creating numerous opportunities for the association. Membership has increased from around 200-250 to over 500 members. The association hosts monthly knowledge series on topics like AI and GST, which contribute to the growth of its members' businesses.
Leveraging AI and Crafting Win-Win Propositions
Mr. Satish Arora emphasized the transformative potential of AI in the distribution sector. He advised partners to leverage their experience to integrate AI into their organizations and educate customers on its benefits. Arora also highlighted the importance of affordability for end customers and creating win-win propositions for customers, partners, and brands.
The summit provided valuable insights into the emerging opportunities and challenges in the IT sector, equipping partners with the knowledge needed to navigate the evolving landscape and seize new opportunities.
