Mozilla announced the appointment of Raffi Krikorian as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In this pivotal role, Raffi will lead Mozilla’s global technology strategy and innovation roadmap, strengthening the organization’s mission to build an open, safe, and people-centered internet.
A long-standing advocate for responsible and ethical technology, Raffi has been deeply connected to Mozilla through his prior roles as Board Chair at Mozilla.ai and Board Member at the Mozilla Foundation. His transition to CTO marks a defining moment for Mozilla as it continues to align its technological vision with its broader commitment to transparency, trust, and human agency in the digital era.
Before joining Mozilla, Raffi served as Chief Technology Officer and Managing Director at Emerson Collective, where he led transformative initiatives that merged technology, social good, and AI ethics. His career also spans influential leadership roles at Twitter, where he built the company’s large-scale infrastructure systems; Uber, where he served as Engineering Director; and the Democratic National Committee, where he modernized the organization’s digital operations. Additionally, as Board Chair at Medic, an open-source health tech nonprofit, he championed digital innovation to expand global access to healthcare.
Raffi’s appointment reflects Mozilla’s renewed commitment to shaping a more equitable technological landscape—one where innovation serves humanity, not the other way around.
Sharing his excitement about joining Mozilla, Raffi Krikorian wrote on LinkedIn, “I’m super excited to share that I’m joining Mozilla as Chief Technology Officer. In some ways, it’s a new beginning; in others, the continuation of a story I’ve been writing my whole life. My grandfather started a small radio station in the Philippines—not as a profit machine, but as a public good. I’ve been chasing that spirit ever since: technology as a force to connect, empower, and make life more human.”
He further added, “Each step of my journey—from Twitter to the Democratic National Committee, Medic, Tumo Center for Creative Technologies, and Emerson Collective—has taught me that technology is never neutral. It can open doors or close them. It can concentrate power in a few or expand possibility for the many. That’s what brings me to Mozilla. Because good enough isn’t good enough. We can’t just imagine a better internet—we have to build it.”
“AI makes these questions urgent right now, but it’s bigger than AI. It’s about the foundations—the web, data, and the tools we depend on. If we get those right, everything else follows. This is our moment to shape the future together, because the future of technology shouldn’t belong to a few—it should belong to all of us,” he concluded.
Raffi’s leadership will guide Mozilla in delivering responsible, innovative technologies—from AI to web infrastructure—ensuring the company continues to empower users and communities globally.
