Kotak Mahindra Bank has strengthened its information security leadership with the appointment of Nipun Siddhrau as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Executive Vice President. Siddhrau joins the bank with more than 20 years of experience spanning cybersecurity, information security, technology operations and information systems audit, largely within the banking sector.
The appointment comes at a time when financial institutions are managing increasingly complex digital environments, with cybersecurity, technology resilience and protection of critical information becoming central to banking operations. Siddhrau’s experience across security operations and technology functions positions him to contribute to the bank’s broader information security and technology agenda.
Leadership Experience Across Banking Technology
Siddhrau has spent much of his career working within large banking technology environments, with responsibilities covering security operations, cyber defence, IT support and information security management. His experience includes building and managing security functions as well as addressing technology and information security requirements across banking operations.
Prior to joining Kotak Mahindra Bank, Siddhrau was associated with State Bank of India. During his tenure, he held multiple leadership positions, including Assistant General Manager – Security Operations Centre, Assistant General Manager – Cyber Security, Chief Manager – Cyber Security and Chief Manager – IT Support and Services.
These roles gave Siddhrau exposure to both operational cybersecurity and broader technology management, covering areas that are critical to securing large and highly distributed financial technology environments.
Career Built Around Information Security
Siddhrau’s career in banking technology began in information systems audit before moving into IT and cybersecurity leadership. He subsequently served as Chief Information Security Officer at Bharatiya Mahila Bank, taking responsibility for the organisation’s information security function.
His career progression has included roles across IT support, information systems audit, cybersecurity and security operations, providing experience across different layers of an enterprise security framework.
This combination of audit, technology and cybersecurity experience has shaped Siddhrau’s career as an information security professional within the financial services sector.

Siddhrau holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Shri G S Institute of Technology & Science. His professional certifications include Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, along with qualifications in information systems audit, IT security and banking technology.
He has also been recognised in the EC-Council CEH Hall of Fame, reflecting his contribution to the cybersecurity domain.
