Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced the appointment of Janardhan Santhanam as the organization’s Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective July 1, 2025. With a remarkable 25‑year tenure spanning diverse roles at TCS, Santhanam brings unparalleled insight into the transformation of its digital and talent ecosystems as the company pivots toward an AI‑first future under his strategic leadership.

In his new capacity, Santhanam reports to COO Aarthi Subramanian and assumes responsibility for aligning TCS’s internal IT strategy with boardroom objectives. He will spearhead efforts to accelerate operational excellence across cloud, data, security, and AI-powered systems—reinforcing TCS’s position as a global innovation leader.

Prior to this, Santhanam served as Vice President and Chief Learning Officer, where he led skilling and capability-building programs for over 570,000 employees. He pioneered large-scale, AI-powered learning models and architected TCS’s award-winning “Xplore” program, which redefined how fresh talent is onboarded and trained through digital-first, data-driven frameworks.

Santhanam’s strategic influence extends beyond leadership programs; he architected TCS Xplore—an innovative, shift‑left L&D model that halved induction times from 10 to four months, enabled 30+ digital competencies, and delivered cost efficiencies via smart digital training across campuses.

As CIO, he steps into a pivotal role just as TCS delivered ₹255,342 crore (over $30B) in revenue for FY 25 and prepares for its FY 26 Q1 earnings. Santhanam’s appointment underscores TCS’s bold commitment to harmonizing culture, learning and digitalization—solidifying its status as the exemplar of an AI‑first enterprise.

A master of data‑driven decision‑making, he holds a master’s in Industrial Engineering from IIT Delhi and blends engineering acumen with a passion for digital analytics, making him an ideal fit for the CIO role. His appointment comes amid a broader leadership realignment at TCS to power the next wave of innovation and scale in the AI era.
