Hexaware Technologies has appointed Sunil Varkey as Executive Vice President & Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), strengthening its executive leadership as the company continues to expand its global digital transformation and cybersecurity capabilities.
In his new role, Varkey will lead Hexaware's global cybersecurity strategy, overseeing cyber resilience, enterprise risk management, security governance, compliance, and organization-wide security transformation initiatives. He will be responsible for building a robust security framework that supports the company's business growth while safeguarding its global operations, customers, and digital ecosystem.
Veteran Cybersecurity Leader Joins Hexaware
Varkey brings more than three decades of leadership experience spanning cybersecurity, information security, governance, IT risk, cyber resilience, and digital transformation across banking, telecommunications, consulting, and enterprise technology sectors.
Prior to joining Hexaware, he served as Cyber Security Consultant and Advisor at TAHAKOM, partnering with the organization's leadership to strengthen cybersecurity strategy, resilience, and enterprise security capabilities.
Before that, he was Vice President & Chief Technology Officer for EMEA & APJ at Forescout Technologies, where he led strategic initiatives around IT and operational technology security, customer engagement, cybersecurity consulting, and market development across multiple international markets.
Leading Security Programs at Global Enterprises
One of the defining chapters of Varkey's career was his role as Managing Director & Global Head of Cyber Security Assessments & Testing at HSBC, where he managed a global team of more than 300 cybersecurity professionals responsible for penetration testing, threat modelling, vulnerability management, digital footprint analysis, and third-party security assessments across the banking group's worldwide operations.
Earlier, he served as Chief Technology Officer & Security Strategist for the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe at Symantec, helping enterprises, financial institutions, and government organizations strengthen their cybersecurity posture through advanced security strategies and threat intelligence programs.
He also spent nearly six years at Wipro Limited as Global Chief Information Security Officer and Fellow, Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS), leading enterprise-wide information security for a workforce of over 200,000 employees while earning recognition among the company's most distinguished technology leaders.

Varkey's leadership experience also includes senior positions at Idea Cellular, Barclays, GE, Genpact, Paramount Computer Systems, and The Saudi British Bank, where he built deep expertise across enterprise security architecture, cyber operations, governance, privacy, incident response, and risk management.
His appointment reflects Hexaware's continued investment in strengthening enterprise cybersecurity as organizations increasingly adopt AI, cloud technologies, automation, and data-driven business models. With extensive global leadership experience and a proven track record in building resilient security organizations, Varkey is expected to play a key role in advancing Hexaware's long-term security strategy while enabling secure innovation across its global operations.
