Hero MotoCorp has strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of Suresh Kumar P as Chief Digital & Information Officer, effective August 31, 2026. The appointment places technology and digital transformation directly within the company’s senior management structure as India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer continues to navigate a rapidly changing mobility and automotive landscape.

The company disclosed the appointment under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. Suresh Kumar P will join Hero MotoCorp’s Leadership Team and will be designated as Senior Management Personnel under the applicable listing regulations.

The appointment comes at a time when automotive companies are increasingly using digital technologies not only to modernise internal operations but also to transform product development, customer engagement, connected mobility, data analytics and enterprise decision-making.

Two Decades of Technology Experience

Suresh Kumar P brings close to 20 years of professional experience across the fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and information technology sectors. Before joining Hero MotoCorp, he held senior technology and digital leadership positions at Reckitt, Pernod Ricard and Asian Paints. Across these organisations, he was involved in technology-led initiatives aimed at improving business performance, operational efficiency and organisational capabilities.

His cross-industry background could be particularly relevant as automotive companies increasingly adopt technology platforms that span manufacturing, supply chains, sales, distribution and customer-facing services.

His experience also reflects a broader shift in the role of enterprise technology leadership. The CIO function is increasingly moving beyond traditional IT infrastructure and towards business transformation, data-driven decision-making and the integration of emerging technologies.

Academic Background

Suresh Kumar P holds a Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology from Madras Institute of Technology, Anna University. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management from the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai, formerly known as the National Institute of Industrial Engineering.

The combination of an engineering background with management education aligns with the increasingly strategic role of digital leadership within large enterprises, where technology investments need to be closely connected with business objectives.

Why the Appointment Matters

For Hero MotoCorp, the appointment could strengthen the company’s focus on building technology capabilities across a complex business ecosystem.

The automotive industry is undergoing a significant digital transition. Connected vehicles, software-enabled features, digital retail, predictive analytics, automated manufacturing, supply-chain visibility and data-driven customer engagement are becoming increasingly important components of the modern mobility business.

A dedicated Chief Digital & Information Officer can play a central role in bringing these technology priorities together, while also ensuring that enterprise IT systems can support the company’s evolving business requirements.

The role could also become increasingly important as automotive manufacturers manage the convergence of traditional engineering with software, connectivity, artificial intelligence and digital services.

From IT Leadership to Business Transformation

The appointment also reflects how the traditional technology leadership role is changing across major Indian companies.

Rather than focusing solely on IT infrastructure and systems, modern digital leaders are increasingly expected to work directly with business functions to identify opportunities for automation, improve customer experiences, strengthen data capabilities and create technology-driven efficiencies.

Suresh Kumar P’s experience across consumer-facing industries could provide an additional perspective on how digital platforms can be integrated into large-scale operations and customer ecosystems.
