DefenAI Lab Private Limited has appointed Dr. Umang Mehta as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), strengthening the company's technology leadership as it continues to expand its capabilities in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, AI governance, and digital trust.
In his new role, Dr. Mehta will lead DefenAI Lab's technology strategy, product innovation, AI research, platform engineering, cybersecurity architecture, and strategic technology initiatives. He will also oversee the development of next-generation solutions focused on AI governance, sovereign AI, AI risk management, governance, risk and compliance (GRC), and cybersecurity for enterprises and government organizations.
Three decades of technology leadership
Dr. Mehta brings more than 30 years of experience across cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, AI governance, AI risk management, data governance, digital transformation, enterprise technology, and emerging technologies. Over the course of his career, he has established himself as a technology strategist, researcher, innovator, and advocate for responsible AI adoption.
Alongside his new role at DefenAI Lab, Dr. Mehta serves as Founder and Director of the World AI Governance (WAIG) Foundation, where he works towards advancing responsible AI frameworks and global AI governance initiatives.
Extensive leadership across AI and cybersecurity
Dr. Mehta is also the Co-Founder of InCyber India and TBT: AI & CyberSecurity Edition, contributing to the advancement of cybersecurity awareness, digital trust, and AI innovation. Prior to joining DefenAI Lab, he served as Chief Growth Officer at Aneka Labs Private Limited, where he played a key role in driving technology-led growth and expanding capabilities across AI governance, cyber resilience, and enterprise security.
His professional journey has been centered on enabling organizations to adopt emerging technologies while building secure, scalable, and resilient digital ecosystems.
