

LinkedIn has appointed Deepak Agarwal as its new Chief AI Officer, highlighting the growing need for leadership in managing AI initiatives amidst the rapid digital transformation process. This appointment underscores LinkedIn's commitment to harnessing artificial intelligence to drive innovation and address the evolving challenges of the digital era.
In a strategic move to enhance market visibility and presence, LinkedIn plans to capitalize on Deepak’s extensive 25 years of experience to drive its growth and innovation further.
Deepak, in his post on the professional networking site LinkedIn announced the switch to the role saying, “I am thrilled to share that I’m joining LinkedIn as the company’s Chief AI Officer. This is my second stint leading AI at LinkedIn, with my last tour being VP of AI for 8 years where our team developed remarkable innovations at a massive scale that serve as the foundation for much of the company’s AI efforts today.”
Showcasing his commitment to the new role, Deepak highlighted that “LinkedIn has a long and impressive history of using AI to transform the way professionals and businesses connect, learn, and grow.”
“My mission as CAIO is to push the boundaries of what’s possible, ensuring our AI innovations are not only cutting-edge and industry-defining but also ethical, inclusive, human-centric, and empathetic.”
After a transformative journey with Pinterest for four and a half years, Deepak bid farewell in an emotional note, “It's been an incredible journey, from shaping the creator ecosystem to providing deeply personalized experiences for Pinners through cutting-edge AI technology, building the foundations of shopping and what the future of visual search looks like, cultivating positivity on the platform, and much more. I strongly believe that Pinterest is on track to become a 1 billion MAU and 10 billion revenue company in the near future, continuing to lead in visual search innovation and uphold its reputation as a positive space on the internet.”
Deepak’s current association with LinkedIn marks his second inning with the company, having previously served as Vice President of Engineering and artificial Intelligence, for over eight years. Prior to rejoining LinkedIn, he held the roles of Chief AI Officer and VP of Consumer and Trust Engineering at Pinterest.
He began his professional journey as a Senior Research Scientist at the American telecom giant AT&T. Over the years, his remarkable career has included roles at leading organizations such as Yahoo, VentureBeat, and SIGKDD. Additionally, Deepak has explored part-time opportunities, serving as a PC co-chair for the WWW 2022 Conference and as an angel investor, helping early-stage startups navigate and grow in the tech ecosystem.
As for Deepak’s educational background, he holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Connecticut, which enhances his deep understanding of consumer behavior in the rapidly evolving era of digital transformation.
