Kotak Mahindra Bank elevates Bhavnish Lathia as its Chief Technology Officer, adding significant technological strength to company’s leadership team. In this role, he will be pioneering all the technology work at the firm, including driving digital transformation, enhancing cybersecurity measures, implementing cutting-edge fintech solutions, and optimizing IT infrastructure.
Under his leadership, Kotak is poised to enhance its reputation as a technology pioneer in the banking industry. After playing a key role in the bank's technology initiatives for the past three years, Lathia is now poised to drive innovation, enhance customer-focused solutions, and optimize operational efficiency.
Lathia’s journey with the consumer bank started in 2022 as a Chief of Customer Experience and Head of Technology, where he was answerable for customer experience for physical and digital channels, service quality and customer service. Lathia underscores technology as a primary force in the growth of Kotak and aspires to driving innovation and advancing digital transformation to create outstanding value for customers and stakeholders. Announcing the news of his elevation, he took professional networking portal LinkedIn and Posted: “I am honored to take on the role of Chief Technology Officer of Kotak Mahindra Bank.”
Holding over 40 patents across e-commerce, web services, distributed computing, and machine learning, he consistently drives technological advancements. Reflecting his commitment to the new role, Lathia, as the newly appointed CTO, takes on his responsibilities as a mission to transform Kotak Mahindra Bank into the most technology-enabled and customer-centric institution. He also stated, “With over 20 million lines of code written in just three years, patentable innovations in high-scale, fault-tolerant, distributed systems the remarkable in-house engineering team at Kotak has begun to build the Bank of the future.’
Before joining Kotak, he had a successful 17-year tenure at Amazon, where he began as a Technical Product and Program Manager, eventually rising to the position of General Manager. After that, he served Valo as a Chief Product Officer and Executive Vice President for a year. However, his professional journey with Egghead Software where he worked as a Senior Software Engineer/Principal Architect and then he switched to EMC Dantz.
As per his educational background, Lathiya has been an alumni of Bharati Vidyapeeth, where he studied bachelor of Computer Engineering. He completed his M.S. from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and an MBA from California State University – Dominguez Hills.
