JSW Energy has strengthened its senior technology leadership with the appointment of Basan Gouda S as Vice President and Head – IT & Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). The move comes as the company scales its power generation, renewable energy and storage businesses, placing technology, digital infrastructure and cybersecurity under a consolidated leadership mandate.

In his new role, Gouda will oversee JSW Energy’s IT and information-security functions, with the mandate spanning enterprise technology, digital infrastructure and cybersecurity. The combined portfolio assumes significance as the company expands its operations and increases its reliance on technology across a growing and increasingly diversified energy business.

IT and Cybersecurity Under One Leadership Mandate

The appointment brings two increasingly interconnected technology functions under a single leadership role. As JSW Energy continues to scale its operations across multiple businesses and locations, the IT organisation will play a critical role in supporting enterprise applications, digital infrastructure, data and technology-enabled operations.

At the same time, the CISO mandate puts cybersecurity at the centre of the company’s digital growth strategy. The convergence of IT and security leadership reflects the growing importance of protecting enterprise systems and information as energy businesses become increasingly dependent on connected and digitally enabled infrastructure.

JSW Energy’s corporate disclosures highlight a comprehensive Information Security Policy, along with continuous updates to its IT systems as part of its information-security framework.

Technology Becomes Critical to JSW Energy’s Expansion

The leadership change comes against the backdrop of significant expansion at JSW Energy. The company had an installed power generation capacity of 15 GW as of July 2026, while its locked-in generation portfolio stood at 32.4 GW as of March 2026.

Beyond conventional power generation, the company is building a broader energy platform spanning renewable energy, energy storage, transmission, power trading and emerging opportunities such as green hydrogen.

JSW Energy has also set a target of approximately 40 GWh of storage capacity by 2030, signalling a growing technology and infrastructure footprint across its operations.

Focus on Digital Resilience

For JSW Energy, the increasing scale and complexity of its operations makes the role of enterprise technology more significant. Digital systems are becoming central to operational visibility, business agility, decision-making and coordination across its expanding portfolio.

Against this backdrop, Gouda’s combined IT and CISO responsibility is positioned at the intersection of technology enablement and risk management. The role is expected to support JSW Energy’s digital requirements while ensuring that cybersecurity remains integrated into its technology environment.

Gouda’s appointment comes at an important stage in JSW Energy’s transformation into a diversified energy solutions company. With capacity expansion, renewable projects and storage investments continuing, the company’s technology and cybersecurity functions are set to become increasingly important to its next phase of growth.
