Bank of Baroda has formally announced the elevation of Moharana Ashok Kumar to the position of Chief Data Officer (CDO), effective May 6, 2025. This appointment, disclosed through a regulatory filing, reinforces the bank’s ongoing strategy to enhance its data governance and digital transformation agenda.

Kumar brings with him over 25 years of industry experience, with a significant portion of his career dedicated to Bank of Baroda’s technological advancement. He joined the bank in 1999 as a Specialist IT Officer, and over the years has played a critical role in modernizing the bank’s data systems, IT infrastructure, and analytics capabilities. His deep institutional knowledge and strong technical foundation make him exceptionally well-placed to lead the bank’s enterprise data strategy.

As Chief Data Officer, Kumar will be responsible for shaping the bank’s data architecture, implementing governance frameworks, and enabling the use of advanced analytics across business functions. His mandate also includes aligning data initiatives with regulatory standards and accelerating the bank’s progress toward a more intelligent, insight-led operating model.

Kumar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration, bringing together both technical and managerial expertise. His leadership is marked by a forward-thinking approach to digital transformation, with a focus on security, scalability, and innovation.
