NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Services Companies) has appointed Rajesh Nambiar as its new President Designate. Nambiar, who recently stepped down as Chairman and Managing Director of Cognizant India, is set to succeed Debjani Ghosh. Ghosh, who has served as NASSCOM's President since 2018, will complete her term in November 2024.
Nambiar's departure from Cognizant India is slated for the end of September 2024, following which he will transition into his new role at NASSCOM. To ensure a smooth leadership transition at Cognizant, the company has appointed Rajesh Varrier as Nambiar's successor. Varrier will assume the roles of Global Head of Operations, Chairman of India, and Managing Director of Cognizant, continuing to drive the company's strategic initiatives and growth in these key positions.
Before being appointed as CMD of Cognizant in September 2023, Nambiar was serving as a member of the executive council of NASSCOM. Later, he was elected as the Chairperson of the IT industry body. Apart from that, he has worked with IBM, Ciena, and TCS.
โThis is truly an exciting time for the industry, as we focus on the accelerated transition to AI-first companies, making talent our greatest competitive advantage, driving growth, and increasing investments in IP creation and R&D,โ he said in a statement.
On the other hand, Varrier was serving as an EVP and Global services Head of Infosys Americas, Global Head of Digital, and Microsoft Business of Infosys before being announced Cognizant CMD. Along with that, he also worked for Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance and founded analytics firm Activecubes.
