The elections of the Amritsar Computer Traders Association were successfully conducted on 3rd March, in a peaceful and well-organised manner, with strong participation from members of the local IT trading community.

The voting process reflected active engagement from the region’s computer and IT trade ecosystem, which continues to play an important role in driving distribution, retail coordination, and vendor engagement across Amritsar’s growing technology market. A total of 128 members were registered for voting, out of which 109 exercised their franchise.

A Smooth Democratic Process Reflecting Industry Unity

The election process was completed without disruption, highlighting strong internal coordination and a shared commitment among members to maintain unity within the trading community.

A key highlight of the process was the unopposed election of Vikas Narang as President, reflecting consensus and trust among members. His selection signals continuity in leadership and confidence in his role in strengthening the association’s relevance in a rapidly evolving IT distribution landscape.

In an industry where regional trade bodies increasingly serve as a bridge between distributors, vendors, and retailers, such consensus-driven leadership transitions play an important role in ensuring stability and long-term planning.

Newly Elected Executive Committee Announced

Following the completion of the election process, the newly elected leadership team of the association was announced as follows:

·       President: Vikas Narang

·       Vice President: Jag Mohan

·       General Secretary: Sunil Thakur

·       Treasurer: Rajeev Anand

·       Joint Secretary: Rajnish Sharma

·       Media Incharge: Bhavneet Singh

·       PRO: Amritpal Singh

·       Sports Secretary: Rohit Rana

The team represents a cross-section of experienced trade members, expected to work collectively towards strengthening internal coordination, improving vendor engagement, and addressing key challenges faced by the local IT trading ecosystem.

While speaking to DT after his election, President Vikas Narang said, “I sincerely thank all members for placing their trust in me once again. This support is not just an honour, but a responsibility to work harder for the collective good of our trading community. Our priority will be to strengthen unity within the trading community and ensure that every member benefits from a more structured and collaborative ecosystem. The IT trade landscape is evolving quickly, and we must adapt together to remain relevant, competitive, and future-ready.”

Sharing his happiness and outlook for the association’s vision with DT, Vice President Jag Mohan said, “I am deeply grateful to all members for the confidence they have shown in the new team. This responsibility gives us the opportunity to work more closely with the community and focus on practical, on-ground improvements that directly support traders. Our approach will be to strengthen communication within the association, respond more effectively to day-to-day trade concerns, and ensure that members feel better supported in their business journey as the market continues to evolve.”

Strengthening the Role of Trade Associations

The election comes at a time when India’s IT hardware and distribution ecosystem is moving through a phase of structural realignment. The industry is witnessing a clear shift driven by faster product cycles, increasing influence of online procurement platforms, tighter pricing pressures, and changing buying behavior across both retail and enterprise segments.

In addition, vendors and national distributors are increasingly focusing on unified channel strategies, where pricing consistency, inventory visibility, and end-customer experience are becoming critical success factors. This has made coordination across the supply chain more complex, requiring stronger alignment between brands, distributors, and regional trade networks.

In this context, regional associations such as the Amritsar Computer Traders Association are evolving into important ecosystem stabilisers. Their role is no longer limited to representation of traders but is expanding into structured facilitation of market intelligence, dispute resolution, and collective engagement with vendors and distributors.

The newly elected committee is expected to focus on strengthening vendor-trader relationships, improving communication within the ecosystem, and creating a more organised framework for addressing industry challenges.

New Leadership Steps In with Focus on Stability and Growth

With the successful completion of elections, the association enters a new phase of leadership with renewed focus on stability, unity, and industry relevance. The peaceful and well-managed election process reflects strong organisational maturity and shared intent among members to work collectively for long-term progress.

As the newly elected committee assumes responsibility, the emphasis is expected to shift toward strengthening internal coordination among members and improving responsiveness to day-to-day trade challenges. This includes better alignment on vendor interactions, smoother communication within the association, and more structured engagement on industry-related issues affecting the local IT trade community.
