Xiaomi India Announces to Donate Rs. 15 Crores for Nation’s Fight Against Covid-19

Covid-19 virus has swiftly captured a large number of people worldwide. Countries like USA and Italy has become big target of this virus and the number of cases in these countries are still increasing at rapid pace. Coronavirus’s impact has been quite slower in Indian subcontinent due to the timely decisions by the government. Indian government has managed to keep the transmitting risk of coronavirus lower than any other country. It shows that how serious is Indian government towards the safety of every single person. The Covid-19 task force is monitoring the situations and taking updates from every corner of India therefor the leadership is planning accordingly. 

Recently PM Modi appealed to donate in PM Cares to support the fight against COVID-19. We saw many large corporate houses, celebrities and sportsman came forward and supported by donating generously in this tough time. Xiaomi India, the leading smartphone brand, has also extended their support in this grieve situation where entire country is fighting this pandemic. In a letter issued to all the employees of Xiaomi, Manu Jain, Global VP, Xiaomi and MD, Xiaomi India said, “I hope everyone is staying safe. In these extraordinary times, your well-being is the most important thing. The most important thing is to self-isolate and observe the lockdown diligently. During these testing times, all of us need to come together to safeguard our nation.”

Xiaomi, one of the market player in telecom industry has taken a stand with Indian government and extended its support for people during this emergency. “At Xiaomi, we are pledging INR 15 crores for the fight against COVID-19 outbreak. Xiaomi will donate INR 10 crores to the honourable PM's relief fund and CM's relief funds across various states. Moreover, we will continue to work towards donating lakhs of face masks and protective suits to hospitals across various states” said Manu Jain. 

Also, there is so much to do for the needy people who are deprived from some of the basic things to stay safe. The underprivileged section of people don’t even have the essential safety products in this lockdown period such as masks, and soaps. Xiaomi has helped those people in this matter and provided them the safety kits. 

Manu Jain stated, “We have partnered with Give India on Mi.com to raise INR 1 Crore to make available hygiene kits for 20,000 families who don't have access to soaps, sanitizers & masks. We request all our Mi Fans and partners to donate for the cause. We are also partnering with several other NGOs to extend support to daily wage workers, migrants and stray animals.” 

He further added, “In addition, we are requesting all 1000+ Xiaomi employees and all our partners to donate to the cause directly through the PM relief fund, CM relief funds, or by donating a portion of their salary. Along all such initiatives, we expect to donate INR 15 Crores to help the nation.”

Manu Jain also requested Xiaomi’s loyal customers to give contribution in order to strongly fight against the coronavirus. Every single contribution will soon turn into a huge amount which will help the country in this good cause. “Unity shines in times of adversity. We request all our Mi Fans to also come forward and donate on Mi.com or directly to PM relief fund / CM relief funds. Let us all express our heartfelt gratitude to all the heroes who keep us safe. Stay strong, stay safe and do what you can to help us get through this tough time. Stay at home. Stay safe!” he concluded.
