“We Have Very Aggressive Agendas For Doubling Our Revenue”

From last few years Surveillance market is one of the top growing markets in India. Surveillance market has seen a heavy investment and increasing awareness among people towards surveillance solution has been the key growth factor for this market. Synology creates network attached storage and IP surveillance solutions that transform the way users manage data and conduct surveillance in the cloud era. While talking to DT, Mike Chen, Sales Director of Synology unveiled their strategies to capture a big market share and shared his views about company’s growth.

DT: What have been the crucial milestones of your company during the year 2017? 

Mr. Mike Chen: In 2017, our first priority was to develop our channel partner ecosystem, to make it stable as well as strong. And that's why we partnered up with our new national distributor- Supertron Electronics Private Limited in this year. We believe the solid partnership with Supertron will definitely bring us the bright future. 

DT: What was the major challenge for your company? How did you fight those challenges? 

Mr. Mike Chen: When people think of public cloud, they usually think of its great agility, scalability, and lower cost for hardware investment and maintenance, which is why the adoption of public cloud is constantly high. However, data privacy and ownership are essential and usually the top priorities for enterprises, which are on the contrary the drawbacks of the public cloud. With this in mind, Synology aims at providing a flexible solution that combines both public cloud and private cloud technology to our business users, so they can benefit from both sides and deploy their storage structure based on their needs. 

DT: How GST changed your business affair in the year 2017? What was your preparation to adopt this biggest tax reform?   

Mr. Mike Chen: We respect this change and have done some internal evaluation with our pricing strategy. We will continue our business with full force as usual and will be offering a competitive price in the market. 

DT: What's your channel strength currently in India? How do you plan to boost channel strength in the year 2018? 

Mr. Mike Chen: Our channels are under development at the moment. We just have had a handful of events for our channels in 2018; it’s our 'Grow Tall and Grow Fat' strategy. These events include exhibitions, reseller seminar, workshops, test/buy programs, and more. 

DT: How do you assure your customer excellent service support? What is your investment plans to enhance service support infrastructure to cover entire India? 

Mr. Mike Chen: Synology is a software-defined company, our operating system (DiskStation Manager, DSM) is the soul of our products. If there is an issue faced by our end-user, the Synology Tech Support team can log in remotely to diagnose and fix the error(s). Other services such as replacements, on-site, can be provided/availed through our network of SI across entire India.

DT: Please share your current revenue and market growth rate. What is the target for the year 2018? 

Mr. Mike Chen: We are just starting to set our footprints in India, so the revenue is just starting to grow. With 2018, we have very aggressive agendas for doubling our revenue several times.
