Q. How do you see the technology helping hotel industry to improve operations and workflows?

The demand for web portals and apps is at an all-time high and food and dining apps in the market are aiding hotels and restaurants to deliver a remarkable service experience to their customers. Q. What are the major challenges you see while selling your solutions?

A.Every industry is marred by challenges and restaurant industry is no different. A few challenges that we experience while selling are –

1. Manual Operations – Restaurants, until now, are manually running their operations. From creating a reservation to keeping a guest record, everything is done manually. Adapting to a technology-driven model is challenging for most of the restaurant owners. Changing mind-sets and making restaurants move away from the conventional territory is the biggest challenge that we face today.

2. Training – This is an extension to the first challenge. Training manpower takes a lot of efforts. Since restaurant personnel has been trained the traditional way, it is arduous for them to make a transitional shift from the conventional system to the technology-driven system.

3. High Expectations – Any novel product or technology offering cannot reap benefits overnight, especially in an industry where such reservation platforms have for long remained absent. This is a long-term process before actual results can be seen and effectively monitored. Making restaurants understand this and have a realistic vision is another major challenge.

Q. How do you approach your customers? Do you have marketing and awareness campaign to tap the current opportunity?

A.We follow a simple sales model of one-to-one direct sales. Since we are currently focusing on the B2B side of the product, this involves more one-on-one interactions.We are predominantly customer-focussed with dedicated teams for handling any application-related issues. Apart from it, we also provide in-depth training for the initial phase to the restaurants to make them fluent with the application use.

Q. Kindly share details about your clients.

A.Delhi-NCR has been our pilot market and here we have targeted fine dining restaurants spread across the major hubs in the city, be it Connaught Place, HauzKhas Village, Dwarka, Saket, Janpath or Gurgaon.

The capital city’s most popular food joints and cafes like Rodeo, Hops n’ Brew, Café 9, Amber, The Pink Room, Mahabelly and Warehouse Café, among others, have joined hands with Clicktable.

Q. How are you planning to boost your sales in the New Year?

A.New Year is going to be an out-and-out action-packed year for us since we know the inside out of the restaurant industry now. After getting an overwhelming response in the capital city, we are eyeing the Mumbai and Bengaluru markets and eventually plan pan-Asia expansion. By mid-Q1 2016, we plan to release our consumer app for diners. This quick, intuitive and engaging platform will enable them to reserve tables on a real time basis.
