VMware Rolls Out VMware Cloud on AWS in India

Ahead of the AWS Summit starting on May 15th in Mumbai, VMware Inc. announced VMware Cloud on AWS is in early access in India today, with expected general availability by the end of May 2019. VMware Cloud on AWS will deliver a ubiquitous digital foundation to support customers’ and partners’ digital transformation. With the addition of the AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) Region, VMware Cloud on AWS is now available in 14 regions globally.

“We have seen a lot of interest from Indian customers for VMware Cloud on AWS to help with their digital transformation,” said Arun Parameswaran, Vice President, VMware India. “The availability of the solution in country will give them an opportunity to use the fastest and most seamless way to deploy and operate hybrid clouds with VMware.”

VMware Cloud on AWS is powered by VMware Cloud Foundation, the unified VMware SDDC platform that integrates VMware vSphere, VMware vSAN, VMware NSX and VMware HCX technologies and enables customers to run applications across vSphere-based private, public and hybrid cloud environments. Jointly engineered by VMware and AWS, this on-demand service runs on Amazon EC2 dedicated, elastic, bare-metal infrastructure, and provides optimized access to AWS services and robust disaster protection. The hybrid cloud service enables IT teams to seamlessly extend, migrate and manage their cloud-based resources with familiar VMware tools.

“VMware Cloud on AWS in India will deliver innovative capabilities and powerful solutions seamlessly for our customers,” said B.S Nagarajan, Senior Director & Chief Technologist, VMware India. “By leveraging the capabilities of the hybrid cloud, the service will provide enterprises with the fastest way to migrate mission-critical applications or even entire data centers to the cloud. The service will also enable organizations to rapidly add new innovations to their enterprise applications and optimize, simplify, and modernize their disaster recovery solutions.”

“VMware Cloud on AWS will enable users to reduce the cost and effort associated with migrating applications to the cloud,” said NavdeepManaktala, Head of Business Development, Amazon Internet Services Private Limited. “It will do so by delivering infrastructure and operations that are consistent with those deployed within customer datacenters, and extending tools, processes, and practices proven to support the most demanding applications. The platform is for anyone who is looking to move workloads whether temporary or permanent, with maximum flexibility in how they craft their architecture.”

A broad range of global customers are already using VMware Cloud on AWS around the world, across industries such as transportation, healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, oil and gas, government, education, professional services, and technology. Popular enterprise use cases include: cloud migration ranging from business-critical applications to entire data centers; data center extension to satisfy cyclical capacity, extend to new geographies, scale virtual desktops or enable new application development and testing; and Disaster Recovery (DR) to replace legacy solutions, implement a new DR strategy, or protect additional workloads in the context of their existing DR solutions. With the same architecture and operational experience on-premises and in the cloud, IT teams can quickly derive business value from use of the AWS and VMware hybrid cloud experience.

“We have a great partnership with AWS as a managed service provider and have a deep understanding of delivering VMware technologies,” said Nitin Mishra, Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer, NTT Com-Netmagic. “This helps us leverage the best of both worlds and to address unique cloud requirements for customers. We have extensive experience teaming with VMware to deliver Managed Hybrid Cloud services, and this will make us an ideal partner for Indian companies that want to adopt VMware Cloud on AWS.”

The VMware Partner Network enables partners in India to grow their hybrid cloud business with VMware Cloud on AWS through the VMware Solution Provider and VMware Cloud Provider programs.
