Qlik Showcases New Product Innovations at Its Annual Qonnections Customer and Partner Event

Qlik outlined multiple product innovations and its vision to accelerate digital transformation success in the analytics economy at its annual Qonnections customer and partner event. Centered around the Associative Difference™ in the Qlik data analytics platform, customers and partners learned how Qlik is extending capabilities across multiple offerings to help every business user turn insights from data into action, quicker and easier than ever before.

There is an analytics gap in traditional BI stacks that keep organizations from winning in the analytics economy. It’s driven by complexity, lack of flexibility, and a focus on query-based solutions that don’t allow easy exploration of all the available data. Through the Associative Difference, Qlik delivers scalable enterprise-class technology that empowers every employee to leverage all their data. Qlik unveiled three new innovations – Multi-Cloud, Augmented Intelligence, and Big Data Index – that will drive modern analytics into every part of the enterprise. These solutions will enhance the intelligence of every user through greater insight from all data – on-premise and in the cloud – to truly drive enterprise-wide transformations.

“Enterprises that embrace and extend the power of analytics throughout their organization will be the leaders in the analytics economy,” said Mike Capone, Qlik CEO.“Qlik is the platform where data and analytics come together in the digital age, to deliver insights that drive actions that transform companies.”

Multi-Cloud – Cloud Flexibility and Choice for the Modern Enterprise

Enterprises need assistance from analytics providers to better leverage the cloud across an entire range of efforts – from mission-critical applications to dev ops to mobility – all with ever-growing data volumes and complexity. Many BI vendors dictate a cloud strategy based on their agenda vs. delivering an architecture and solution that enables the customer to meet its goals. Qlik’s multi-cloud analytics solution is designed to give customers full freedom and flexibility to choose where data should be kept, where the analytics should take place, and how and where users can access it seamlessly, whether on-premise or in the cloud.

Qlik showcased its cloud-based and container-based architecture that easily and economically scales across on-premise and multiple cloud environments. Qlik offers a unique technology approach that lets customers choose where they want analytics to run, based on their data and application-specific needs. Qlik’s multi-cloud solution is expected to deliver a seamless experience so all users have the same consistent analytics capability regardless of location, device or network state. The entire multi-cloud platform can be managed as one from a single interface, to ease administration and policy-based content distribution across infrastructures.

Augmented Intelligence – Intent-Driven Insights to Empower Every User

One of the major factors limiting digital transformation initiatives is workforce data literacy – the ability to more effectively read, work, analyze and argue with data. In recent Qlik-sponsored surveys of thousands of business leaders across the US, EMEA, and APAC, just 24% of business decision-makers are fully confident in their ability to effectively use data. Qlik is helping organizations close this gap by advancing the ability of every user to gain additional insights at a faster pace through intent-driven insights as an Augmented Intelligence initiative.

Qlik is applying a unique approach to AI, which bridges AI and cognitive technologies with its UX and core Associative Engine to deliver what Qlik describes as Smart Start capabilities across the entire product portfolio. Smart Start features take advantage of the new cognitive insight engine in Qlik Sense®, which works with the Qlik Associative Engine to provide context-aware insights and automation across the analytics life-cycle. Taking this approach allows Qlik to combine machine intelligence with human intuition in new and powerful ways that unlock tremendous value for users and organizations to help boost their data literacy and productivity. The Smart Start capabilities unveiled at Qonnections:

  • combine augmented intelligence for profiling and suggested associations between data sources;
  • provide smart capabilities for auto-generating the right types of charts based on the data;
  • Generate auto-suggestions of additional charts and visualizations;
  • simplify workflows for loading data and building analytics.

Big Data Index – Maximizing Data’s Value Across the Enterprise

Qlik already enables users to better leverage big data through its user-driven on-demand app generation capabilities, which drives data discovery through loading and analyzing aggregate views of big data stores with the full Qlik in-memory capabilities. The Associative Big Data Index is a new cloud service on Qlik’s product roadmap that will expand Qlik’s associative experience with big data, moving the power of association from the user interface to the underlying ecosystem of all data. This new capability will enable the Qlik engine to index and store information about resident data within sources such as data lakes and Hadoop, without the need to load all the data into memory. The Associative Big Data Index will enable fast and engaging data discovery on massive data volumes with full access to all the details of the underlying data. By allowing users to freely explore and search big data without limits, the entire organization will have always-on access to the data it needs to drive insights on a moment’s notice. Qlik has already demonstrated this capability running against a set of data stores representing hundreds of billions of rows of data with near real-time performance.

Qlik Sense – The Platform for the Analytics Economy

The breadth and depth of Qlik Sense allow organizations to meet the broadest range of analytics use cases from a single platform, leading to consistent, data-driven decision making. The Qlik Sense Enterprise June 2018 release includes the first elements of Qlik’s multi-cloud strategy – being able to publish through Qlik Sense directly to the customer’s cloud infrastructure, enabling dramatic cost savings when serving large user communities and addressing new use cases. Qlik Sense Enterprise June 2018 also includes innovations in augmented intelligence including multi-chart recommendations based on the fields selected by the user and Insight Advisor, which surfaces the most important insights from the entire data set to create new sheets or to be inserted into existing sheets to expand discovery. Through its February and April 2018 releases, Qlik has already delivered other recent enhancements, including:

  • Connectivity to over 30 cloud and on-premise data sources such as Google Big Query, PostGreSQL, and Dropbox Metadata to expand big data analytics access for every user
  • Enablement of enterprise mobility management strategies through AirWatch per-app VPN support for Qlik Sense Mobile
  • Expanded GeoAnalytics Mapping that supports dynamic name lookups and expanded projections with Mercator and Adaptive, which increases the value of internal and external geo-based datasets for strategic analysis and planning.

Customers and partners rely on Qlik for advanced technology and leading architecture to further their ability to achieve scale and discover insights that drive transformation,” said Mike Potter, Qlik CTO.  “Whether it’s our multi-cloud approach that gives organization flexibility and choice, augmented intelligence that advances every user’s ability to gain deeper insights, or our upcoming big data index that will extend the value of data to everyone, Qlik is driving innovation that directly impacts an organization’s ability to leverage data for business results.”
