PVR Cinemas Joins Hand with Samsung to Bring the First Onyx Cinema LED Screen to India

PVR Cinemas, the largest cinema exhibitor in the country, today announced its partnership with Samsung to be the first multiplex chain bringing the world’s first Onyx Cinema LED screens in India. Endeavoring to transform the cinematic experience for its audiences, the Onyx screens at PVR will deliver an un-parallel picture quality with its true black colour bringing content to life with higher vibrancy and accuracy. It is further equipped with comprehensive solutions such as Onyx View, Onyx 3D and Onyx Sound maintaining its advanced presentation capabilities in ambient lighting conditions regardless of the featured on-screen content.

Backed by brilliant LED picture quality with infinite contrast ratio, the onyx has a screen resolution of 4096X2160 pixels, showcasing content at peak brightness. The screen can display images of 4K, 2K, HDR, HFR and 3D qualities along with state-of-the-art Onyx surround sound. The 3D Onyx Cinema LED screen crafts 3D movie content more realistically, through enhanced brightness and consistent colour amplification.

The first Onyx screen in India will be launched in Delhi at PVR ICON, DLF Promenade and PVR Phoenix, Lower Parel, Mumbai PVR’s future expansion plans entail total 5 theatres equipped with Cinema LED screens in next 15-18 month across metros. The company currently operates a cinema circuit of 625 screens at 134 properties in 51 cities pan India.
