“Partners Will Continue to be The Key for Our Cloud Growth in 2020”

Digital Transformation journey for Indian organizations is one of the key aspects if we want to achieve 5 trillion-dollar economy by 2024-25. These organizations need robust and advanced IT solutions to keep growing further and contribute towards the country’s dream to become the largest economy in the near future. Oracle, the leading tech brand, has always helped Indian companies in riding the wave of digital empowerment. The brand is working very closely with India’s companies in all different verticals. Sanjoy Mukherjee, Head-Alliances, ISV and Channels, Technology Business, Oracle India, interacted with DT and shared his opinion on market growth, opportunities and channel plans.

Q: How has been your overall business growth in CY 2019?

A: India is one of our fastest growing markets within the JAPAC region. We’ve seen double digit growth consecutively for the last four years. CY 2019 was another good year, we saw cloud adoption pick up great pace in the country. With the recent launch of our Gen 2 Cloud region in Mumbai, we anticipate more and more customers to upgrade to our secure, enterprise-grade cloud to run their mission-critical, high-volume, high-performance applications and databases. Demand for our flagship innovation, Oracle Autonomous Database, continues to rise quarter on quarter. Early adopter customers such as Federal Bank, Sharda University, TBZ Jewellery have already realized huge business benefits by unlocking deeper insights and making better, faster business decisions.

Q: How do you see the adoption of cloud-based solutions in 2020?

A: In the digital economy, Indian organizations realize the importance of transforming themselves into digital-first businesses to accelerate innovation and expand growth. With cloud as the foundation, there’s also a huge appetite amongst customers to try out new technologies to dramatically improve customer experience and business productivity. Per Gartner, end-user spending on public cloud services in India will grow to $3.4 billion in 2020, a 25 per cent rise from 2019, positioning India as the third largest market for cloud in APAC. NASSCOM has projected India's cloud market to cross $7 billion by 2022.

We’re very bullish on India as a market. To cater to rising demand for our Gen 2 Cloud, we’ll be opening our second local cloud region in the country in CY 2020. Key growth drivers include the Government’s increasing push towards digitalizing India, abundant IT talent, rising pressure on CIOs to unlock more innovation and value from IT investments, a dynamic business landscape powered by several new technologies amongst others.

Q: Which major technologies are poised to transform the business practices in year 2020?

A: Customers are looking to explore AI/ML, IoT, Blockchain, Chatbots etc for newer use cases as they try to embed intelligence into every aspect of their business. CEOs will look to their CIOs to drive advanced automation with an autonomous approach to IT, where different business functions will embrace a self-service approach to using technology. Businesses will get even more data-driven.

From Oracle’s perspective, our focus for 2020 is clear: we’ll help customers upgrade to the technology of tomorrow, today, starting with generational innovations like Oracle Autonomous Database. We’ll help more customers upgrade to our Cloud ERP suite and take advantage of our local Gen 2 Cloud region, while helping them improve their information security fabric.

Q: What will be your channel strategy to drive substantial growth?

A: Partners will continue to be the key for our cloud growth in 2020. We’ll continue to make investments in strengthening our partner network and expanding our partner ecosystem, skilling/reskilling them for the cloud economy, working closely with ISV’s/Cloud platform partners and collectively focus on helping customers get the maximum value from our cloud. We continue to focus on our license business with our existing partners, Global SI’s, ISV’s, Regional SI’s & resellers and work collaboratively with them on the Cloud growth journey. We’ve recently introduced the revamped Oracle PartnerNetwork 2020 program - it’s completely customer-centric, success-driven and simplified. It’s a cloud-first modern partner program that accelerates their transition to cloud, driving superior customer experience and business outcomes.
